I hope I chose the right forum, just looking for inspiration!

If you had an approximately 2ct Asscher (or other square shape) to set for an e-ring or RHR, what type of setting would you choose?

My husband-to-be and I JUST splurged on a new setting yesterday evening for my e-ring which is a 2ct asshcer. We put two .40cttw traps on the side in platinum...The side stones are perfect size because they do not take away from the center stone and just help "prop it up" or help it "pop". For a right hand ring, I would do something similar or with gemstones like sapphires or something to make it look less like an e-ring. Perhaps you could have bigger traps to make it look more like a three-stone...

Good luck!

This is one of my all time faves for an Asscher.

I like the classics...simple solitaire with baguette sides, or for a three stone ring, step-cut traps or smaller asschers...

I generally prefer asschers without halos, but the one Jasmine linked is the exception...yum!

A halo would be really yummie!!!

Have you thought of setting it at a 45 degree angle? Setting square diamonds either princess or Asscher cut at an angle allows for all sorts of very interesting settings. Don''t limit yourself to the blocky traditional up and down option that most people follow.

Thanks for all your replies!

I have been struggling a little with it because most of the settings I gravitate towards (VERY thin band with pave--not channel--set rounds, or marquise side stones) are hard to find images of with asschers so I am a little nervous that they don't suit the cut as well.

That said though... I LOOOOOVE the traps! I wonder if we could swing 'em... hmmm....

UCLABelle... I assume you're in the Los Angeles area? Me too! Mind if I ask where you went for your setting?

Whoa that Leon with the traps is absolutely lovely! My all time favourite. Can''t wait til you make your decision and post pictures!
Congratulations.

Check out Leon''s site. He has an asscher with a plain, thin, pave set band. There is this one too:

I love the one that Ellen posted...that is gorgeous! I had my emerald cut in a setting with side traps and melee, but reset it back in the solitaire which makes it look so much larger!

I''m with ellen, I love the classic cartier look. It''s just soooo pretty and highlights the asscher extremely well.

I''m with Ellen, too. I think that setting is GORGEOUS!

~~I like the setting mrssalvo posted, and also UCLABelle''s new asscher w/ traps (hers is about 2 carats co that will give you an idea of what it looks like)... Here is her thread

I would either set it 45 degree in a minimalistic setting if the stone had really good windmills/pond/infinity effect. Or I might try a split-shank pave this is light and delicate, 2cts is big enough for either.
