How to This Setting/Mounting? Designing Engagement Ring

Hi all. I've made a post about making an Alexandrite purchase in the Colored Stones section. I've come close to a decision on that aspect, now I need to figure out how to set the stone. I wanted to bring this conversation over to Rocky Talk as I believe this is where discussions about settings takes place.

Hey all, hope you've been well.

I received an e-mail back from David yesterday. I asked him about the 2 small pears .49 and .48 ct. He mentioned that they are about the same quality and so would go with the .48 as it faces larger. So that is likely what I'll do. Which of these two stones do you all think is better?

My next mission is the setting/mounting... they're called what?

This is the setting that she'd like to place the Alexandrite in. My question is this: I've e-mailed them twice now asking if I may buy only the setting without the center stone. I would like to avoid paying $3k for the setting alone as that exceeds the cost of the Alexandrite! They've not replied to my emails.

Is there such a thing as a copyright on ring designs? Can I take a picture of this to somebody to replicate? Is that a wise option? Are there stores that sell settings identical to that or is ManiaMania the sole distributor? This is THE ONE and I'm attempting to figure out how to make that happen.

Well, ManiaMania replied. It is not surprising that they were unwilling to sell the band alone. They offered to source and set an Alexandrite for me... but I don't find that to be an option. My trust is limited as to opinions/advice on Alexandrite.

I've included a picture of the ideal ring. She stated that she'd do fine without the paved stones, but would like the little trio clusters that surround the center stone. Ideally in opal but due to their weakness on the mohs scale this is questionable.

Does anyone have an idea on where to buy or have made this ring's band?

Congratulations on getting the ring finally, I am in a similar position, my partner only wants the mania mania ritual engagement ring,
And I've emailed them but again I can't get just the setting and the centre stone is not what she would like and far undervalue for what it is,

My question. How did you finally get the setting. I don't want to purchase a 7000 dollar ring with a piece of Quartz in it, I have a diamond picked out that I will replace as the centre stone, please can you help and reply asap as I've set a date six weeks from now booked on holidays to propose

You could get into contact with David Klass (via his fb) and get a quote for something similar. I believe the OP had this ring done custom as it doesnt look like the insp photos.
