How to take photo of an engagement ring?

I tried searching forums but did not come across a simple how to.
I would like to share the bling...

I have a simple Canon point-and-shoot camera. I can't seem to zoom in and focus on the diamond. I have changed the macro settings but still no dice. Not sure how to share the bling just yet...

Just make sure you set the white balance and turn off the flash in your camera. Have fun!
