Thought it might be an interesting poll. I was told a number by certain parties that people in similar situation to me normally spend. I suspect that this number may have been inflated.

E-ring. That's when we're supposed to be less established and the hit hurts a little more.

I'm not sure what the norm of my peer group is. I think it's in the $3000 - $8,000 range. That's my group of friends and what they paid. Mainly kids not long out of school or it happened during school. Most are lawyers.

I was getting ranges of $10,000+ (including a $25,000 Tiffany & Co. ring) from my g/f's coworkers (pharmacists, doctors and other medical professionals).
