Could any reasonably skilled benchman / custom jeweler make a ring like this? Are those pave bezels especially tricky? I''m not even dead set on it being a true bezel set, would possibly be OK with the bezel look but actually having little prongs holding the stone in. Does this change anything?
That's kind of a difficult question to give a straight answer to.
Lots of jewelers could make a ring that looks sort of like that but it's extremely difficult to make to do this kind of work perfectly. I rather like the look of the bezel but it doesn't change the complexity of the piece.
Why not buy it from the original designer? It looks like a very nice piece. Who makes it?
Yes, the mounting can be made as shown in platinum or white gold with rhodium to scale for any size center stone. the cathedral point that the bezel rest's on I feel is not enough support for a center stone bezel section that sit's so high. I would suggest either widening the ring slightly or possibly securing 2 pins on the bottom of either side of the bezel. The pins would seat into matching holes at the peak of the ring's cathedral on each side with a lazer welder and of course would not be seen. If you have an idea of sizes of stone needed and metal choice, email me and I will send you a quote. If this is a ring that was originally made in Asia you will find that US prices will be more for the custom work. But I do feel generally right now the quality in the US will be superior.
