How many Generals in US armed forces?

Rumsfiled has 6 who dont like him.

He says 6 out of thousands is nothing to worry about.

Are there really 1000''s?

In 2003 there were aprox 873 generals and admirals
So figuring a few hundred for the reserves into the mix and yea thousand+ isnt far off,,,

Active? You retire as General. The other issue is "how many stars". One star in the Army is way more common than 2 star. Admiral less common than one star also.

So, I would put more clout into 6 two/three/four/five star Generals than 1000 one star.

He should resign! Will he? I highly doubt it.

I think 6 generals, speaking out - is enough to get the country''s attention. They do not usually speak out so loudy as they are now, correct?

However, I am sure at some point the GOP will bash the hell out of their records.
