Hi all,
I haven''t decided for sure what I want to do for my wedding band yet, but I am thinking of building myself a wedding band with round diamonds approximately 4mm-4.3mm (.25-.33) to wear on the opposite hand as my e-ring. If I set them shared prong style, will 5 diamonds be enough to cover the top of my finger and give the illusion of an eternity band from the top view? I am a size 4.5. Also, if any of you have wedding bands of this style or inspirational ideas, I''d love to see a picture.

Thanks

30 pointers are big and 4.5 is a small finger so i''d say 5 would give you the full finger spread...but unfortunately you''d have to ask the jeweler to know for sure!!

i have a size 6 finger and i have a ring that has 10 10 pointers and gives the illusion of the eternity ring when my fingers are closed. but also the two stones that end the ring end up kind of irritating my fingers when they are closed so i don''t wear it that often. i''d probably have been happier with a 7 stone.

Ooohh, getting excited here! Thanks for the link belle, what a beautiful ring! You are right Mara, .33 are going to be pretty big! 30 pointers on a 4.5 will be excellent blingage comparing them to 25 pointers on a 4.75 hand! If I wanted to save money, I could probably go down a little too and still cover my finger. It looks like hers are 4mm and easily cover her 4.75 hand. What a beautiful ring. I''d like to stay under 3500...but it would be really nice to have leon make it...oh dream dream dream.

What do you think of this idea, possible? I could take the daniel k eternity style (pic one) and add an extra "scoup" to each side view of the diamond like the second pic I''m adding? Leon would be able to do it, but I''m worried it would cost a fortune.

extra "scoup" like this pic, but not split prongs...just take the profile.

How about the shank, any ideas? I won''t be able to add pave or anything because it will add up $ to fast (and it really won''t show), but should I do anything to it, or just keep it thin?

it would.
the design you are evisioning is very, very nice and should be possible but you are going to price yourself out of nice diamonds in the size you want. a basic shared prong setting with 1.25ctw of diamonds will be around 3500. unless you go much smaller with the diamonds, or poor cut, you won''t be able to get a custom band AND 1.25cts. for 3500. for leon to make the band, it would be at least half of that if not more.
i love a good surprise though, so get some quotes and find out what can be done.

Hmmm, I bet I could go down to a .23-.25 and still cover my finger. I wonder if I buy H/I-VS2/SI1 if that would put it closer to budget. Don''t worry, I won''t compromise on cut!

good to know you''re not going to compromise on cut!

don''t rule out j/si2 either. in that size you will never see a difference.
