hi there... i''m looking at a diamond at a diamond (importer)... the diamond has been ''rated'' on the sarin scale (sp?) and all of the ratings were excellent and very good except the depth rating.. which was listed as ''fair'' at 63... how important is depth... the diamond is round brilliant.. .72ct.. G VS2...

how will the ''fair'' depth effect the diamond? the importer (who seems like a very nice, honest man) says that it would take an expert with mechanical tools to notice the depth ''imperfections''?

i''m a first time diamond buyer and my only ''true'' diamond education came from the talk i had with the importer last night... he spent over 45 minutes explaining many diamond related concepts to me...

thanks so much for any and all input...

Is this a RB? The 63 will mean you have a stone that is deeper than an ideal cut stone of similar weight, thus making the diamond look smaller face-up (because some of the weight will be hidden in the pavilion).

Also remember that these numbers shouldn''t just be taken separately; they are supposed to interact with each other. So, that 63 will also--most likely--cause some loss of light return.
