How high off your finger is your setting? Especially if yours allows a flush fit band.

So we're down to the wire on the design...and with everything included the setting will be 8 mm off my finger. How I love the design and Ocean worked really hard to make it as low as possible. But to get the setting to accomodate a flush fit band, we ended up at 8 mm.

I looked at that on a ruler... and I *think* I'm comfortable with it.

To go lower I'd have to forget about plush fit, or bezel set it, or have an airline. Or forget the lovely bowl wires that are my favorite part of the side view. I don't want to give any of that up though.

So can you guys give me an idea of how high your settings are? Especially if they are halos that allow for flush fit, like the ritani ones?

I don''t have a halo, but a non-branded x-prong and very much like low settings. I just measured and it''s 6mm off my finger. Looking at what 8mm would be, it''s really not that much of a difference--I think that''s completely reasonable! Your design sounds like it''s going to be stunning. I can''t wait to see the finished product!

Not sure if this is the right measurement you''re asking for, but from the bottom of the top shank where the head is, to the table of the stone, is between 8 and 9 mm.

FG... Yes, that's what I'm talking about!... can you link me to side view shots of your ring, please?

Jfo-- Thank you honey! I had a non-branded X prong and that's what this is replacing... so we're talking about 2 mm or so higher than that. Okay. I think can deal.

honestly, I think 8mm will be fine. it won''t be super low, but i don''t think it will be crazy high either and you''ll get used it pretty quickly...

My plain solitaire is around 6mm. I think 8mm will be fine.

Mine is 8.5-9.0mm. I did give it a serious whack accidentally yesterday. I can definitely do a flush fit with it though. And I can learn to be more careful.

Ooops--mine isn't a halo, sorry I missed that part. I think yours should be just fine.

Mine sits about 8 mm off my finger, and it''s actually a lot lower than many of my friends'' settings. I consider it to be a medium hight setting. I do knock it on things every once in a while, but I think I would do that with any ring.

Whew. Okay. I *thought* it would be fine... but wanted to see how high ''average'' settings around here are. I know Ocean fought for the lowest sitting setting possible, and I wanted some perspective. Now that I think about it, I''ll bet my old x prong was around 6 mm too. So this won''t be crazy high... and it will have the bowl/wires to hold it up.

My ring is a halo that will allow flush fit bands, and it sticks up about 6-7mm from bottom of the band to top of the table. However, the profile view isn''t anything fancy. Here''s the WF pic of my ring where you can see some of the profile. The part you can''t see is just two more completely flush support bar things going up to the halo part. BTW, I don''t think it would bother me if my ring was 2 mm taller.

Great Tof T... the picture is really helpful. The original ''inpiration'' setting for my concept, a Tacori, felt REALLY high to me once I tried it on... that''s why I didn''t buy it... well, and I didn''t like the side view of it when squared. I just wanted to make sure I wasn''t setting myself up for that.

Gyp I looked everywhere but can''t find a ''real life'' size side view. This is the only one I have...and it''s gargantuan compared to real life. So I don''t know if it will help.
