I do not think the 80's ring is accurate. Maybe very LATE eighties. But something like this is the 1980's ring for me: http://www.ebay.com/itm/14k-Yellow-Gold-Round-Baguette-Diamond-Engagement-Ring-1-33ct-/171544116093?hash=item27f0d37b7d:g:pgcAAOSwMKpUaAPR or this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Diamond-engagement-ring-18K-yellow-gold-1-10CT-round-brilliant-baguettes-2-35CT-/371344607133?hash=item5675dd079d:g:7Z4AAOSwDk5T6osi or worse, this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Round-Baguette-Diamond-Engagement-Ring-1-80CTW-14KY-Gold-GV88722-Womens-Size-6-/172118391535?hash=item28130e3aef:g:iJIAAOSwl9BWMnd5

But the 1920's one was my favorite, followed by the 1950s.

The worst one was the crappy halo and included yucktastic brownish diamond from the 2010's.

I read through the article and kept thinking how much better those rings could have been had there been a Pricescope to help the guys choose better cut diamonds. Good gravy some of those were so pathetic!

Seriously, I have sold jewelry since 1970 and I know that most of it looked WAY better than those pictures. I kept wondering why they used such unattractive jewelry for so many of the pictures.

Wink, I thought exactly the same...the diamonds didn't look great at all :wall: - but some of the settings like the one in the 50's i loved.

Some things have changed but classic designs never go out of style.

My wedding ring is a late Victorian- early Edwardian 5 stone ring that I wear every day and still looks modern.

I thought that too. The old cuts were bad enough. But the 2010 stone. OMG. It was flat out hideous.

The only nice stone was the Emerald.
