How easy is it to take a notch out of platinum?

I just got my e-ring last week and being the obsessive person I am I occassionally look at it under the loupe. I noticed that one of the prongs holding the diamond looks like it might have a slight notch out...sort of a very small triangle piece that is missing. Is this something I could have done by normal wear. I know I have lightly hit the side of my desk a few times, but I can''t remember any really hard knocks.

Is this anything I should be concerned about?

CRANKYDAVE--THANKS. Can you tell me how easy it is to take chips out of platinum? I thought platinum was really hard.
