I recently bought some cute boyfriend jeans that are comfy and styllish but not too young (I''m 40 something and I don''t want to try to look 19). It''s still warm here in the South so I''ve been wearing them with flat sandals and tank tops.

This weekend, however, I''m heading the the Rockies where it''s a bit cooler. Do those of you who are fashion savvy have any suggestions for what to wear with them in cooler weather? I''m going for a sporty, somewhat casual look. Do I wear short on top? Longer, leaner tops? Tunics? A belted cardigan? What about shoes? The jeans are a little slouchy but not a lot.

As you can guess, I don''t have much time for fashion mags lately! Any ideas will be appreciated.

A hoodie!

Or a ribbed long-sleeved shirt.

Thanks, Porridge. For comfortable shoes, what do you think about ballet flats?

Yes go for it! Plain ones only though IMO with boyfriend jeans!

Where in the Rockies are you going? We''re at the tail end, and it''s still in the 80s here...

I think boyfriend jeans look best with something a little more body-con on top--maybe layers of closer-fitting stuff for cooler weather. For example: tank + tee + cardigan + nice long scarf that can double as a shawl if you need it. Katie Holmes often wears boyfriend jeans and looks pretty cute, and she usually does ballet flats and non-bulky tops (or sometimes a close-fitting tee or tank with a big cardigan over top).

I''m flying into Bozeman and will be staying near Livingston. Weather.com says 39 for the low and 59 for the high. Yesterday, N.O. was in the 90''s so I''m trying to find my fall clothes!

Ditto this-exactly what I was going to say! And I was going to suggest ballet flats too but you already mentioned them! I also think boyfriend jeans look cute with a slim casual loafer or oxford. Although if your feet and ankles tend to get cold and your boyfriend jeans are cropped that might not be the best thing for the weather. They could look cute with something like a Frye harness boot or engineer boot, too, as long as the jeans aren''t too baggy.

I wear mine with sketchers in cooler weather (I''m early 40 something btw). I also agree, keep the top half leaner, fitted long sleeve tops etc. I''ve got some puffy vests I wear with turtlenecks and slouchy jeans in winter. Keep the long, bulkier tops for wearing with skinny jeans.
