We have friends visiting this weekend and I thought it would be a great time to get into the holiday spirit.

This Friday a small shopping center nearby (called Peddler's Village) hosts a Grand Illumination the Friday before Thanksgiving every year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvsLjcopGJg

We will be strolling through the village sipping hot cider and roasting marshmallows and will probably take a carriage ride after dinner.

Then on the weekend we will be visiting Byer's Choice! http://www.byerschoice.com/Page-VISIT-US_5.aspx I love visiting this place and usually walk out with a few purchases. I once visited during the week and watched as they made the carollers - each one is hand made and painted.

That sounds incredibly lovely, Uppy! :))

I will keep checking this thread, because I could really use some holiday spirit this year . . .

That does sound fun. I love cider...mmmmmmmmmm! I think it sorta depends on the holiday for me. Like I do more fun shopping in November for Christmas and like to go on walks and window shop with Fi. For Christmas, I like to bake. I just love filling the house with scents like cookies and pies. It really makes me happy.

I start to bake a lot. Especially pumpkin or spice related things. I drink lots of cider. I listen to Trans Siberian Orchestra and the Hanson Christmas album, repeatedly. We also have a duck pond illumination that they do at the beginning of December, where they decorate all around this pond with Christmas lights and displays. They do the lighting, have music, hot chocolate, cookies and sometimes fake snow. I love that.

While I bake I listen to the Nutcracker over and over again!

Eggnog! I get so excited when I see it start to appear in the dairy section! I won't let myself buy any until after Thanksgiving. Also, putting sprinkles on cookies. I bake a lot during the year, but I only break out the sprinkles at Christmas time!

I can't wait to put up the Christmas tree here. We've had a couple of days of dreary weather here, and I can't wait to be able to turn on some Christmas lights in the house.

Ours goes up Thanksgiving weekend. I can't wait! Some of our neighbors put their lights up last weekend because it was so warm here.

I feel like I want to do a weekend in NYC just to see the window displays and go to Rockerfeller Center and Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular (I haven't been there is ages).

You've got through January 1st as that is how long they have the gingerbread display in the gazebo. Hope you get a chance to go.
Have you ever been to Byers Choice in Chalfont?

Here's the link for Byer's Choice: http://www.byerschoice.com/Page-VISIT-US_5.aspx

They make the caroler's you've probably seen in various stores in the area. They have an extensive Dickens Village Dipslay and have a store as well. Inthe summer you can tour the gardens. The admission is free. Check out the site (not far from the Montgomeryville Mall)

My DH loves them. I should have thought of that. If we didn't have company this weekend I'd go. Enjoy the concert!

In our house, we get in the holiday mood by stopping all grueling exercise regimens, an throwing on some sweats. ;))

I LOVE the holidays!

Starting in October I decorate for Halloween, and then for Thanksgiving, and then for Christmas and Chanukah. I pull out all of my yummy holiday scented candles and oil thingies for Thanksgiving, so the house smells like the holidays. I start to bake more, and I make hot apple cider pretty often because I lurve it.

I usually buy a pair of really comfy winter pjs and new slippers for myself in November. We also pull out all of our heavy throws and put them out in place of the light throws that I keep in baskets in each room.

I listen to the all Christmas music station starting in November, too. It's the only time I listen to anything other than NPR all year.

Our city's holiday lighting ceremony is this Saturday. It's so much fun--ice sculpting, ballet, hot cocoa, Santa. I'm excited! They usually have hot roasted chestnuts in the "downtown" are in December, too. YUM.

Of course, we used to go see the Marshall Field's Christmas windows every year. I miss Field's! It's just not the same now that it's Macy's.:blackeye:

How about starting the Pricescope Christmas carols thread for the calendar year?

Singing! That is my number-one way of kindling Christmas spirit. I also play Christmas songs on the piano and listen to the Christmas music stations on DH's XM Radio.

I make a gingerbread house and decorate with my parents after Thanksgiving.

I start wearing my flannel pajamas and plan which new ones I'm going to ask for this year.

I begin pleading with DH to take me to the Nutcracker just before Thanksgiving. Usually, he gives in in about a week and buys us tickets.

I plan a big holiday/birthday party for me since my birthday is so close to Christmas.

My favorite radio station B101 played Christmas music this afternoon! I am so getting in the mood now.
