Buy a GIA cert VS1 - that would certainly be eye clean!

I would NOT trust their word though - the person on the phone asks a guy somewhere else and they give their interpretation of eye clean - too many folk in the way of a good review IMO.

You could likely get a VS2 and be okay - but be prepared to send anything else back because it doesn''t meeet your standard of eye clean. Good stones at good prices to be had there, but you can''t finesse the details without a purchase.

If you specify that you will not accept anything that is not eye clean, I think they will be inclined to tell you the truth.
Do they send for the stone and inspect it or are they going to drop ship? Even if they do not see the stone, there is no profit in having a stone sent out and taken out of inventory only to have it returned. I think the dealer from whom they are getting the stone will probably not want to send out a stone that is likely to be returned and will be inclined to be truthful about clarity.
If Blue nile is having the stone sent to you without examining it, you might be better off buying from a Pricescope vendor who sends for and examines the stone and makes certain that it meets all requirements before they send it to you.

I agree with all of this except for the discrepancies between people on what they consider "eye clean". For me, for example, it means can I see anything at any distance without a loupe?
