We have $2700 to spend on our diamond. I have already decided to get the legato micropave from WF as my setting. Now I wanted to ask all you experts how big can I get with this price? I want more importantly and ideal cut, the lowest colour I would go would be "I". Clarity don''t care as long as its eye clean.

Since I am getting my setting from WF I kind of wanted to get the stone from them too so I don''t incure an additional charges. PLEASE HELP ME OUT :)

THanks

A quick check on the PS database brings out stones of around 0.7 carats for I SI1. These are AGS 0 stones.

That sounds just about right.

Have you done a search at Whiteflash yet? Their ACA diamonds are gorgeous and it looks like there are plenty to choose from in your price range. The size you can get is probably around .75. However, there is this .8 H/SI2 that looks great. Here''s the web address:

http://whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-283257.htm

It''s $2938 but with the Pricescope/wire transfer discount of 5% it will be $2791. I would snag that one quick!

Alsoc check out this Expert Selection from Whiteflash:

http://whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-283289.htm

It''s the same exact price as the ACA but it''s a .835 G/SI1. The size difference isn''t really going to be noticeable, but the color and clarity are one step higher than the ACA. I would have Whiteflash compare the two, make sure both are eyeclean and trust their judgement as to which one looks better.

Also, be sure to reserve these or any other diamonds discussed in this thread as soon as possible if you''re interested in them. You don''t want some lurker to snag your diamond!

Hi! Congratulations on choosing the most beautiful ring in the world!!!!Ok, I am biased, it is the same one I chose. Have you seen the pics? Here is the link if you''re interested:

I second the motion to contact WF as soon as possible to put your diamond on reserve. Mine is .8 I si2 and is beautiful, big and totally eyeclean. I would trust their evaluation of the diamonds. It is a beautiful size for the ring. It looks so big and sparkly to me. Just call WF and ask the same question, the diamond I got was not listed on-line yet, but they knew it was coming in, so you may have more choices than you think. I am very happy with my I but if they had a G or H available for a similar price I would have gotten that. They were honest with the eyeclean of the si2 so I think I got a bargain that way. My friend who is a mini-expert on diamonds said she thought mine looked like an H and she said she was so glad I got a diamond that was well-cut so she approved of my choice. I am very happy with the plain wedding band with it and I am no longer thinking about buying the matching wedding band, but it is just because of the cost, not because it wouldn''t look awesome. $100 versus $1000--Gee, the $100 choice won.

How big can you get? Well, uh, that''s a rather personal question that only you can answer...Oh, you''re talking about a DIAMOND? Oh, nevermind...
