SO, yeah, um, my diamond is scratched. It''s very tiny (only I notice it of course!) and the diamond has a warranty, which I hesitate to use because I would have to send the diamond out (store policy) -- and I''m afraid I won''t get back an .75 princess cut stone G clarity VS1. It''s my engagement ring... is it possible to buff or polish the scratch out or even make it less noticeable so I don''t freak out all the live long day? I''ve decided to live with if it has to be sent out -- and it''s too small to be re-cut... What would you do?

Welcome!

I wouldn't panic, first thing to do is to consult an independant appraiser to get advice on how to proceed. Here is a tool you can use to find an appraiser in your area.

It is possible that if it is a scratch that it could be polished out and no recut needed with no to minimal loss of weight, however I am only a consumer speculating, you really need an unbiased expert to look at the diamond and advise.

Thank you, Lorelei that was very helpful. There''s an appraiser right in my area, I will make an appointment with him.
