I have recently been searching for a diamond engaging ring and have purchased (deposit only) online in the UK the following:

Brilliant Round, 0.91 carat, Cut Hearts & Arrows, G & SI1
GIS Report
Measurements 6.18 - 6.21 x 3.86 mm
Polish Excellent
Symmetry Excellent
Florescence None
Table - 57%
Depth - 62.2%
Crown Angle - 35.0
Pavilion - 41.2
Cutlet - none

My concern is that since finding this site and the Holloway Cut Advisor I am no doubting if this is indeed a good diamond. The HCA output worries me greatly as it is showing the Fire and Scintillation as only 'Good'. Given the diamond is suppose to be H&A cut I would have expected (or hoped) for a better Fire & Scintillation diamond.

I have bought this online and obviously not seen this yet. I intend to propose at Christmas and changing at this stage would no doubt ruin these plans.

I paid £4,500 (including platinum setting & uk taxes)

I hope someone on here can put my mind at ease.

With that level of optical symmetry it is likely to be a nice stone and the HCA might be a bit harsh :appl:

definitely take a good look at it. The HCA is used by many here and everyone has their idea of what they want their stone to score....BUT it also should be based on what is visually pleasing to you! Look at it in various lighting situations, really examine it. IF you still question it- then return- but I think you will find that its a stunning stone and be happy with your purchase.
