I am not a drinker, so this is not my MO, but how many over indulged on the alcoholic beverages? I am having to use the backspace button on every word.

So fill in the blank to what applies to you

I drank ______ bottles/glasses of champagne

I drank_______bottles/glasses of wine

I drank ______beers

I drank ______{drink of your choice}.

To start it off DH and I started with Mimosas earlier and managed to put down 4 large bottles of champagne :nono: .

I drank zilch today. I probably should have. I deserve to be completely plastered. The first part of my day was wonderful, but my actual Thanksgiving dinner sucked.

As a nursing mom my intake is limited. I drank one glass of wine, would have enjoyed a few more.

The friends I had over today tend to keep wineglasses full at all times, so I have no idea how many actual glasses I had. I never got tipsy, though, since I was the cook and mostly too busy to drink. We had 2 1/2 bottles among 5 of us, and DH and I polished off the partial bottle later on. My real overindulgence was the pecan pie...

I drank:

3 glasses of Prosecco (no champagne).
7 short beers (we split 7 750 mls between 5 of us).
3 glasses of wine.

My ILs are in town, and all are brewers. We drink. Heavily. I was drunk by noon, but am sober now after a post-turkey nap.

I shared a cocktail with my bf, and then we split a pumpkin ale and Dogfish Head's 60 Minute IPA.

I tried to gag down 2 glasses of red wine, but my guts rebelled so I don't think I got to keep them long enough to get any holiday cheer out of it. :(sad

I drank a martini and a glass of wine, but not until 10 p.m., because i work on thanksgiving. never enjoyed a cocktail more! :bigsmile:

Unbelievably, TGuy and I only shared one bottle of wine.

I drank 3 grape smirnoffs while cooking :) To be honest, I didn't drink nearly enough :saint:

I had a glass of red wine around 11 am while I was cooking and I had a glass of prosecco with dinner.

HH, is that because you are nursing Aidan, or are you just naturally good at not overdoing it during the holiday? I can tell you, that when i wasn't working on Thanksgiving, I generally would indulge to whatever degree i wanted....especially if i had to cook ;))

We aren't drinkers, we're eaters. :cheeky: So, I had zero to drink during the Thanksgiving meal.
However, the butterbeer will be flowing at my Harry Potter party tomorrow, and I plan on drinking lots of that. :bigsmile:

I am pregnant so am not drinking at all. However I had a very small glass of wine yesterday. I managed to take 3 sips before getting heartburn hardcore...so much for that! lol

eta: I definitely overindulged on the sparkling grape juice....I had 1 bottle just for myself hahah

We drink the mimosas on every holiday. It was funny because when I woke up I poured a glass of tea and DH came in hollering that tea drinking was not the plan. I told him that I cant have alcahol first thing in the morning. All my relatives love when I come for the holidays. My SIL says "I love drunk Radiantquest". The champagne goes straight to my brain.

I thought everyone got sloshed on the holidays....How else do you keep from choking some of your relatives?

haven, what's a butterbeer?

Because we were 2.5 hours from home, DH and I each had one glass of wine very early in the evening.

Because of this, I will drink heavily today to wipe my memory of the entire event AND continue to drink in preparation of some family coming for lunch next Tuesday.

Seems like the right thing to do.

haven, what's a butterbeer?

It's a common type of drink in the Harry Potter books :) This is the recipe I usually go by- it's sooo yummy!

Servings: 4

Ingredients

* 1 cup light or dark brown sugar
* 2 TBSP water
* 2 TBSP butter
* 1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
* 1 cup heavy cream (divided into 1/2 cups)
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (to taste)
* Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda

Directions:

Step 1: In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water. Over Medium heat, bring to a gentle boil, stirring often, until the mixture reads 240F on a candy thermometer.

Step 2: Stir in the butter, cider vinegar, and 1/2 cup of the heavy cream. Set aside to cool to room temperature.

Step 3: Once the miture has cooled, stir in the vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice (to taste). Place in refridgerator until cool.

Step 4: In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to beat until thickened.

To Serve: divide the brown sugar mixture between 4 tall glasses (about 1/4 cup for each glass). Add 1/4 cup of cream soda to each glass, and then stir to combine. Fill each glass nearly to the top with additional cram soda, then spoon the whipped topping over each.

I love. Last night we went to see Harry Potter and used my 'horse bag' to put almost an entire 12 pack of Shiner Cheer in. We finished it. I would say that my liver has been pushed into the holiday spirit.

We went out for dinner and I drank 4 vodka and cranberries. I've really been watching my alcohol intake and have decided just to limit myself to drinking only when we go out.

I'd say I had a full bottle yesterday. DH had several cans of beer, but I wasn't counting.

I've had maybe 3 glasses of wine and one sparkling wine today... I plan to indulge this weekend, then lay off until the X-mas holidays... :halo:

I had a bottle of wine yesterday...a large one :nono: had to put up with ALL the in-laws :devil:

I personally enjoy a nice little sloshing on the holidays. Most of time, I drink a few glasses of wine, couple beers, champagne...the regulars. My mom came across a new type of carmel flavored vodka that I really really wanted yesterday! But...we are trying to get pregnant, so I limited to a small glass of wine and a few sips of champagne. I didn't want to go cold turkey or my ffamily would really know somethings up. I hope by Christmas I'm either knocked up and able to spill the beans, or can come up with a decent way to disguise that I'm not drinking bc I KNOW DH has some cousins who will be observant.

well, we purchased a bottle of wine & 12 pack of beer for the 2 of us. i wasn't a fan of the wine, so after a few sips i emptied mine into DH's glass. then after dinner, i passed out on the couch & woke up to DH knocking back the beers. i think all said and done he put away 1/2 bottle of wine & 10 beers. :eek: :eek: he had a happy thanksgiving!

*off to finish the 2 beers he left for me*

I've been planning a drinking hiatus for a few weeks, but apparently my timing's been off. Yesterday, before we attended Thxgiving, FI had a couple of bloody Mary's. I had a couple glasses of wine when we got to HIS family's house...and a couple more glasses when we got home!

I like to drink. He likes to drink, but he likes to have one and be done, whereas I like to have 2,3,4 and be sore in the morning, haha. I have recently talked to him about the fact that I want to go sober for 7 days (obtainable goal) and he is totally supportive of that. we drink way too much wine on a weekly basis! :naughty: :wavey: :bigsmile:

sorry, to answer your poll, I would say I drank 7 glasses of wine over a 10 hour period of time tonight.

I had somewhere in the 4-5 glasses of wine range last night (we had a late Thanksgiving because we were traveling back from vacation on Thanksgiving day). That amount isn't a ton for me though - I usually have a glass of wine or two a night.

I did spend the last two weeks drinking heavily in the Bahamas though :bigsmile: I don't even want to think what my total count for those two weeks would be ...
