Not sure what to think.

I took the advice of many here, did a search. Found something I think I''d like to know more about. It was a stone listed by multiple vendors. I chose one vendor because they are out of state and have a return/trade up policy.

I called the vendor and spoke to a person and gave them the stone information. I told them this is the ballpark where I want to be in.

I was quickly shifted to a different stone. One that they "just got in" and is an EGL stone--but they have an Ideal scope picture they will send me...and its a wee bit larger than the one I had chosen, but I picked an E and this is a G.

Is this standard? Is this something I should be concerned with?

You are already "concerned". I think you have saved yourself from some sort of problem, possibly. Try another vendor and see if it works out better. Maybe it will. You need to feel confident.....

I agree. That should not have happened. Once I went to a ps vendor who showed me a stone that they got in for me as well as a stone they owned and had in stock. I was so impressed that there was no push to sell me the stock stone. That, to me, is a class act. In fact, I'm going back there tonight and I am so excited I feel sick!

I get that great feeling when I'm at the BlackJack tables in Vegas, baby!

I have since called a different vendor and received a "if that's the diamond you want, that's the diamond we're going to show you" attitude.

I wonder if anyone is reading this forum

True story...

Today as I was making calls to P/S vendors--I got ahold of one vendor who was great. Don't know how to put it, but I just felt most comfortable with him. He was chatty and helpful. That's all I really ask.

I told him I had found his business and this particular diamond on price scope and I also told him that of all the people I've talked to, he was the most helpful...and I'll be doing my business with him.

At which point he says to me "you know that's interesting, because I was just on price scope reading about how one person had a bad experience with a price scope vendor".

At which point I said "yeah, that was me!". We got a good laugh out of it.

So my thanks to Tony at USACert for his help today.

Im glad you found someone your comfortable with :}
Each of the vendors has a little different style and if one isnt what your looking for often another will be.
The first vendor was a little out of line by my standards.

Glad it worked out Jake!

I was wondering if you followed some of the advice on your previous post.

I've had both good and not so good experience with an on-line vendor. When it's good..it's really good...and you can get a wonderful stone at a substantial savings.

Keep us posted and show us the final product after your purchase.

So, why not give the (there by now?) names? Maybe they’d tune up the offending sales pitch...

No one did any crime, it sounds, except some mild breach of good taste. Not something that cannot trimmed down

Mate, at least you're getting a response from the vendor- one vendor which I tried to contact has only replied to one email in about 6 attempts over 2 weeks- and that response did not provide the info on the diamonds I requested.

Someone on my previous post about the vendor said I should call them, but I am in Australia, so it's not cheap. And anyway, if you are an on-line dealer, shouldn't your customers be able to interact with you online?

tone is half the battle, but as you have found several vendors offer the same stones from the same manufacturers. The other half of the battle is finding a vendor you are comfortable with and who offers the service and policies that are important to you.

There are lots of good vendors here, but they have different styles, different priorities, and different sales methods and policies. Good for you for finding one that fits your needs. (FYI...I also bought a stone from Tony -- they were very good to deal with, and they price matched the stone with other pricescope vendors, which was nice. )

Good luck, and keep us informed!

I had a vendor the way he spoke with me, thinks that I can't afford his stone. So much for that vendor.

Another one I left a phone number with the receptionist, they never returned my call. There is definitely some good and not so good vendors out there.

Same here. One PS vendor never responded to my email either. I sent them another e-mail regarding interest in purchasing a 3 carat stone. They never replied!
