I just thought up a new topic after posting one in the LIW section of the forum.

What did your partner/husband say when he found out you were pregnant? I know everyone is different with different personalities so they won''t all be like Tom Cruise jumping on the couch.

He laughed because I wanted to get pregnant and told him it could take months. I really wanted to get started right away. He said he did not think so, and I got pregnant the first month. When I told him, he looked at me and said, "Months?! Guess that worry is out the window!"

Speechless. We''d been married for 3 yrs, but hadn''t exactly planned to start a family when we did. I learned that there is never really a perfect time to start a family. The "perfect" family does not exist. It''s all about the day to day roll with it-ness that makes memories and strong families. My 2nd was planned, but occured in the middle of grad school. Somehow we made it all work. Those are great days in my memory. I think we suppose what having children is going to be like, and many times we are pleasantly surprised at how different it is.

I''ve never been pregnant, but I just wanted to say congratulations if you are pregnant Pyramid!! I''m sure he will be thrilled, whatever his first reaction might be.

Well, my husband suspected before I did the first time. We got a pregnancy test at the grocery store when we were shopping. A day or so later I took it and when I showed him the positive he got that deer caught in headlights look. He said, "Good job sweetie." We weren''t trying, and I''m not sure if he just didn''t know what to say or he was serious. He sure was scared!

The second time we had been trying for awhile. It wasn''t a shock so I really don''t remember what was said, but probably something to the effect of, "Yay! Finally!"

how sad is it that I don''t remember the first two kids? I remember the first time we got preg before I miscarried and I remember the last one and I''d actually already miscarried one of them before I even told him I was preg (he was on a carrier). I remember writing about the miscarriage but talking to him before he got it like, "well you DID get me pregnant that night but I''ve already miscarried it". The first one I woke up and took my temp and there was no drop so I knew I was preg and told him so then took a test and said see I toldja! I remember going to the doc with my daughter and them telling me I wasn''t and me being convinced I was and they were wrong, but I don''t remember telling my dh.... and I don''t remember my middle son, yikes! But the baby, my last one, I wanted to do something special but I was SOOOO not ready to have another baby and I kept crying and was trying not to so I could do something special for my hubby and I couldn''t stop crying which made me cry even more and I kept babbling about how we were going to have to have four kids now and not being ready and how I couldn''t tell him why I was upset.... it was a hysterical blurr and the poor guy had to keep himself from laughing right at me LOL I do remember saying "I''m pregnant" complete with glays cravitz type cry/whine face waaaaaaa LOL I didn''t accept that pregnancy until my son was 3 mos old. my biological clock had DEFINITELY not reset!!!!

All of mine were totally planned, so it was more like "So, are you pregnant yet?" How boring is that?

ETA: Cehra, you have 4 kids? I was so sure it was 3.

First husband, only kid I''ll have: backhanded into a wall. We were married a month. No more kids for me!

Hi kcousolle

No, no babies here, I am afraid either.

Actually he told me I was pregnant. He was in residency and I was late so he had me come to the hosptial where he worked for a bloodtest. So after I got off work, I got on the train to meet him at his hosptial. I had the blood drawn at the hosptial lab and then we went to dinner and took the train home because his shift was over. Then he went onto the hospital computer and checked my lab work from home . We were both home when checked and here is the funny part, he is not an ob/gyn so the lab test just gave a number for the hormone level . So he pulled out his med school books and looked the number up and saw it was in the postive pregnancy range. Then we made an appointment with my own doctor at that point.

It was planned so it was not a shock. But it was a fun way to find out.

You''re correct - we have 3 but I''ve been pregnant more than 3 times, 6 in fact.... I realize after I wrote the above it was all jumbled out of order! The only one we planned was the first, well the first two I guess but one miscarried... the next miscarriage was really a blessing because our daugter was 7 mos, he was gone in the middle east for 6 mos and while he was gone I had to move 800 miles with a baby by myself... it was not a good time to have another baby! The middle boy came at a good time but unplanned and the last baby came unplanned and before I was recovered from the last one LOL I also lost a baby in my single days but that''s a WHOLE nother story!

man m''dear - that one was one major bungholio!

We waited for many years because we wanted to really be prepared with a house, stable job, enjoy vacations and married life etc. Although our first was unplanned (but still many years later after marriage), he was very excited and happy, almost Cruise-like. Me? I cried unhappily for days and was depressed for weeks. I had no idea I was pregnant even when going through morning sickness but he suspected all along. I also knew deep down that I would keep the baby since it was "about time" to start a family anyway and as the months progressed, I got more "into" the pregnancy.

Our 2nd was planned and we were both happy to get a +HPT and devastated to lose the pregnancy at 12 weeks.

Our 3rd was unplanned but we were super excited since it was right after the loss of an earlier pregnancy. Again, I had no idea I was pregnant until a blood test confirmed it at 7 weeks. Sick as a dog but I thought I was still recovering from the earlier miscarriage.

Nothing, we both cried. We had been together for 6 years before I got pregnant. Definitely wasnt planned. I have a medical condition that usually makes women unable to get pregnant until they take the proper medication to get their bodies working right. We never used birth control in that 6 years nor was I taking my medication. Well, surprise, surprise. I was 3 months along when we found out. I took 6? pregnancy tests & still didnt believe it. I remember the ob/gyn saying "You are definitely pregnant, You dont believe it? Lets see if we can hear the heart beat." When we heard that heart beat I was in shock. The Dr. said "Well, there is your non-existent baby''s heartbeat!" I was sooooo happy but at the same time so mad at myself for not catching it sooner. I guess because I figured I would never get pregnant just like that I ignored the symptoms. All the signs were there except morning sickness but I blamed them on my medical condition. Anyway, now that our princess is here we cant imagine not having her. She is the light in our lives.

aw vegas that is sooooo sweet :*)

I really didn''t have any symptoms except missed cycles with my first one. I thought maybe I better take a test (was stressed out at school) even though I didn''t really think I was. He was at work when I called him to tell him. He answered the phone and I said, "Hi, Daddy." He said, "I think you called the wrong number, Honey." I said, "No, I didn''t." TOTAL SILENCE! Then he says, "Really?" I said, "Yup, we did it." He starts yelling to people that we''re having a baby. He was so cute. We had been married for a little over a year at the time and had been trying the whole time.

Kind of a funny story. I was at my best friend''s parents anniversary party. All my highschool pals were there, including the guys. I was wearing a strapless dress. Two of my best guy friends were staring at my chest and asked me if I was pregnant

. I said not that I know of, but we are trying. Well they were right, found out 2 days later that I was expecting. Guess they knew my chest size would never be so big!!! That cracked hubby and I up!! I took the home pregnancy test and called hubby at the office, and said something cute, like guess we''ll be buying lots of diapers. I remember he was just thrilled. My son was planned, and I don''t remember how I told him, but just remember him being over the moon happy.

Holy CRAP! That kind of stuff never ceases to shock me. I''m glad you kicked that A-hole to the curb.

No worries, he took himself out of the picture forever before she turned one...her grandfather and his wife tried to sue for custody, they got 10 hours a month visitation..and as she got older she has turned out so different from them that they just let the visits go but for a couple times a year.

Awww! These stories are so sweet! Shay, your story made me well up

LOL... My Hubby was out to sea when I found out. When he came back he had duty on the ship (so he couldn''t leave) So I went to see him ... while he was gone (over 2 months) I had chopped off all my hair (was down my back and now a pixie cut) ran his car into the neighbors car, so the passenger side door would not open and found out I was pregnant.

So he and I sat down, in the mess hall on the ship and I told him. "Honey, I have a few things to tell you, I cut my hair, I wrecked your car and I am pregnant" His reaction? "WHY did you cut your hair...." LOL

The first time, he told me to take a test since I was about a week late and he figured I was...once I took it and said, yes, his first words were, "I told you!!" he was very happy!!!

the 2nd time, which came 10 months after DS #1 was born, he was in utter shock. I had taken a test at my dr''s office, bc I my doc was examining me and said my uterus was swolllen and suspected pregnancy. Low and behold, I was already 4 full months pregnant!!! that was crazy!!

my husband consolingly said, "it''s OK, we''ll be OK," as I cried hysterically at the shock of seeing the plus sign on the home preg. test. I did not want to be pregnant!

He was right, we were definitely OK.

Well since my story is pretty current, I remember it extremely well! We had just started "trying" and a few weeks later, I had to go away on a business trip. While I was away, I started to feel ill but assumed it was because I was having lots of meetings over cocktails! After getting home from the trip, I still didn''t feel right for 2 days so early one morning, I took a test and it was positive. DH was still asleep so I just went and sat on the bed next to him and stared at him until he woke up--he must have felt my eyes on him! So he looked at me and said, "why are you smiling?" And I said, "I think I''m pregnant." He said, "ok" and rolled over and went back to sleep. I sat there for another couple of minutes and I think it finally hit him because he rolled back over and said, "really?" with a huge smile on his face! He did not go back to sleep after that!!! I don''t think either one of us really believed it until the ultrasounds though! And today we heard the heartbeat so it''s really real now. It''s funny to see how men react to these things.
