Marks out of 10?
I'd say 7. Good but not spectacular.

Faces-up very large for it's weight, which is a bonus. But lacks a bit on the overall proportions and finish. A few cutters tricks might improve the performance, but you can't always tell from the report whether it has tricks, or whether the result of those tricks is good or bad. I have a GIA-VG (on paper it would appear to be worth 6.5/10 for it's steep/deep proportions) that has some cutters tricks and it performs more like 8/10.

The proportions of your stone sit at a point where a tiny difference from the GIA-printed value (rounding-off of numbers) might make a huge difference to the performance.
Disappointing that the cutter could only be bothered with a "good" polish. I recommend no less than very good as a sign of quality.

Pavilion angle is slightly deep. (but the crown is not steep, so it's not a true steep/deep)
Girdle is very thin. I prefer not to go less than thin, to reduce risk of chipping. Not a problem in a pendant.

Personally, I'd trade-down to a G colour of the same weight and clarity to get a higher cut grade, or I'd slightly drop the carat to get a higher cut grade.

I have the GIA report, no images though. I saw it, it was eye clean. set in a platium band with 2 bagettes on either side. http://www2.gia.edu/reportcheck/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.showReportVerification&reportno=15193178&weight=1.30 . Your expert opinion please. Thanks.
Hi Hokey

Its not the best but it appears to be a decently cut stone, it is a bit shallow with a slightly larger table, images would be very helpful in order to check the diamond out properly otherwise we are only guessing really. What did you think of it? Also find out whether the very thin part of the girdle isn't a potential durability issue, this isn't always the case but best to make sure by getting an independant appraiser to look at it for you.

You could order an Idealscope to check this diamond out further, they are simple to use and to interpret the results. Also see if you can view the diamond away from any bright store lights so you can see how it will look in everyday wearing conditions.

Thanks guys. I know its not the best by any means. It at a B&M store, going ut of business. Caldwell and its priced very well for the 2 side stones and being set in plat. I liked the look of the stone very much. Whould durablity be a problem if it was kept in the same setting? I lik We that it was shallow so the table looked larger. I guess the cut isnt the best on this one. But for the price 6800. The price seemed right for the total ring. What do you think?

Get an appraisal Hokey and get it in writing that you have a return policy signed by the jeweller but I would be cautious there if they are going out of business just in case it happens quickly before you have decided.
