Hi.

I found PS back in 2002 and was on here constantly doing research and getting great advice from many of the same people I see on here today. Around that time, 8 Stars were the hot topic, and I ended up getting a gorgeous 1 1/4 carat 8 star diamond with a beautiful setting from Zoltan David in Austin, TX. After getting engaged, I was through with my diamond purchases for a while and I stopped frequenting PS. Well, since that time, I''ve gotten a divorce and have found the love of my life. So, I''m back at it and will be purchasing another ring in the next 3-6 months.

This time around, I''m going to be looking for something quite a bit different. While the 8 star was beautiful, I paid a hefty premium on it. I''ve been looking around some loose diamonds at several of the PS vendors, and I''ve realized I can get a lot more for the money if I stay away from the cuts you pay a premium for and just stick to stones that are around the GIA ideal range. So, with that in mind, I''m going to be searching for a stone in the 1.5 ct range, SI1 or better and I or better. I typically have a very minimalist, contemporary style, but I''ve started to really like some of the antique settings. I think they also have a much more timeless feel about them. Eventually, I''ll start posting up some stones and settings I find to get everyone''s thoughts.

Although it sucks that I had to go through a divorce, it''s good to be back on PS. I look forward to getting some more great advice.

Hi Jugarelly,

We would be very pleased to make some suggestions for you if you would like, what is your budget for the diamond?

I want to keep the diamond under 10k. I''ve seen some that look pretty good around 8k, and of course it would be a lot easier to pay 8k than 10k.

I understand, here are some contenders - the first is a little under 10k

Also contact www.briangavindiamonds.com and speak to Lesley, they might have something in their inventory which might suit you.

Thanks for the links and information.

The diamonds you listed look great! This one isn't quite on the same level as the h&a, but it looks like the type of rock I could consider. What do you think?

Also, the second link was a J color. Do you think that would look pretty colorless on a platinum or white gold setting?

Most welcome!

The diamond you posted looks great, you have obviously retained a lot of info looking at your selection! It definitely has potential, ask JA for an Idealscope image for the stone and check it is eyeclean to your standards also. In case you need a refresher, this link explains Idealscope and ASET

And to me a J colour like the one above looks plenty white in a plat or WG setting, many happy J owners with larger J''s in plat here!
