Helping a friend look for a marquis diamond....

We are going to start by looking at some local stores just so he can get an idea of different colors and cuts.

What are somethings we need to look at in order to get a good diamond?

I would recommend you use the tutorial link at the top of this page to aquaint yourself with the 4C's if you haven't already. Pay special attention to the AGA cut chart guidelines for marquise if that's what your friend is set on. She may change her mind after trying on different shapes though.

Goodoldgold.com has a great tutorial as well with a link to some educational diamonds that's really informative. I've also found useful info on www.dsourceva.com.

I myself have never used an idealscope YET (it's in the mail) but it seems like an invaluable tool for a non-pro.
