Never bought a diamond before in my life. Down to two:

1.70 I VS2
1.82 I SI1

Haven''t seen either one of these yet but was just curious what people thought at SI1''s vs. VS2''s? I''ve seen other threads but just want some reassurance. In looking at other rings (again, not these two), I couldnt tell a substantial difference. I can tell you that the 1.82 is only $200 more, so since they''re essentially the same price, just curious what people with experience would do! Thanks in advance.

If both are eye-clean, go for the better performing stone.

Which lab grade these stones and what are the depth, table %, crown and pavilion angles?

Hi mphuff

Eyeclean is eyeclean so if the SI1 does not show any eye visible inclusions according to your personal expectations, then you can certainly choose the SI if you wish. What WILL make a visible difference is the quality of the cut, so if you want to post the following or the report numbers so we can look up the important details, we can help you see which is the best cut diamond. I take it the diamond is intended for an engagement ring?

Here is the info needed or you can post the report numbers.

type of lab report and cut grade if applicable
depth%
table %
crown and pavilion angles
girdle thickness
polish and symmetry grades
star and lower girdle facet percentages
diameter in MM
fluorescence if applicable.

No idea on the other stuff. Both are from Tiffany''s. I know, I know, I''ve been reading this board for a while and I''m sure they''re overpriced. But that''s where it''s coming from. I''ve been looking for about 8 months now and have looked at SI1''s (their lowest clarity) up to VS1''s and have never been able to tell a difference. Same with color - never been able to tell difference between G to I. So I feel comfortable that their lowest graded stuff is still great, just haven''t pulled the trigger yet. Thanks.

Most of the above will be on the Tiffany reports which come with the diamonds. Also no judgement here if you prefer to buy from Tiffany! If the name is of value to you then nothing wrong with that, as long as you know you can get a beautiful diamond for less from an online vendor for example and you are ok with paying the Tiffany name premium then that is an individual choice and certainly one some prefer to make.
