Hello everyone, I would like some opinions on this diamond that I'm considering for a custom engagement ring. The stated price of the diamond is $4300. The specifications look good to me but would like more opinions since I've only been reading up about diamonds for a couple weeks. Only thing I'm a bit worried about would be clarity characteristics stating "Cloud, crystal"... can someone explain what that might mean? From what I'm told "it is faint black under the table but 100% eye clean." I would be able to go and see the actual diamond before purchasing, which I would highly prefer over buying from even reputable sites like whiteflash and jamesallen. Thoughts??

It's unlikely that a vs2 at this ct. weight will have any eye visible inclusions. Do you have any images of the stone? Is it possible to receive IS images through your vendor? Can they confirm its eye clean to YOUR standards?

The stone looks good from the specs.
I think you could get a better cut like hearts and arrows around the same size/color/clarity through wf and other vendors.
If seeing it in person is a deal breaker for you, then your stone looks good for the price imho.
VS2 in clarity would mean there's almost no chance of seeing inclusions without magnification.
Good luck.

Well the major advantage of this diamond as opposed to buying online is that I can physically go look at it before purchasing. I'll be taking a look at it sometime next week, but honestly, all my knowledge about diamonds (which is still quite limited after a few weeks of research), is based on numbers and facts. I probably wouldn't know the difference between a good diamond and a great one if I see them in person.

I've actually been looking through several sites recommended from pricescope and have not been able to find any true hearts and arrows diamonds in my price range above SI1 clarity, which I am weary about buying. Also, I've been following general recommendations about table %, depth %, CA, and PA... but I've read differing opinions on their importance, so I'm not too sure about how vital that should be to my decision.

Not sure if you have looked at Brian Gavin Diamonds, but it is certainly worth a look. His staff is amazing to work with and if a diamond does not have the ASET, ideal scope, and H&A images posted, they will get them for you. Here are just a couple of his signature diamonds that will be worth considering. All look to be true H&A diamonds and at least one has very good ASET and Ideal Scope listed. I am no expert at looking at these, and you may be blown away by the one you have posted, so these are purely to provide alternative suggestions worth looking into.

All look like nice options! Thanks for taking a look and making those suggestions. IMO, still hard to really pick a clear winner between those and the one I'm considering. Again, I'm really just starting to read up on this stuff, so I don't really know which criteria and to what extent is best to make sacrifices on between cut grade, color, clarity, and carat.
