I just put an offer on this diamond. It as not been reserved officially so I have to be somewhat cryptic. The measurements have been rounded up/down. I don't want this baby to get snatched from under me. :errrr:

GIA Report (I'll post it once it is reserved)

Oval Modified Brilliant
9.70mm x 7.35mm x 4.60mm
2.60ish ct

I'm totally jumping the gun and already thinking about setting options. Can anyone provide pics as to how this diamond might look in real life once set (size 6). I'm thinking custom halo or 3 stone, but would love to see any/all pics.

You need an ASET image of the stone. There is not enough information for us to tell you anything about it.

My 2.06 oval has very similar proportions to those you posted (mine is the same length, just a tad wider). Here's the "show me the ring/bling" thread with photos. No halo or three-stone, just some tiny pave on the shank.

My hands are larger than yours, but this should give you an idea.

How is an asset image going to tell me how big the diamond is going to look on my hand?

I really don't want to have the stone critiqued or analyzed. I just want to know how this sucker is gonna look on a finger...preferably in different settings

Sorry. Need to read more carefully.

I don't know if we have ovals with those measurements on a size 6 hand. You can try to do a search for "show me ovals" and see what comes up. But ovals are rarer for engagement rings than say, rounds. This is going to sound crazy... but I swear to you it's what long time PSers do when they want to get an idea of scale. Get a ruler, a piece of paper and some scissors and some tape. Cut out an oval piece of paper the same measurements as your diamond. Stick it on your finger with tape. Take pics (you can see the scale best in pics) and then see what you think.

Thanks Libby, I really enjoyed your story, especially the self-admitted obsessive website stalker part (I knew there were others) and your ring looks amazing, you really did well. Great spread!! Thank you for sharing.

I am not much help beyond telling you it will be huuuuuuge! Ha!

I suggest cutting out a piece of paper with as close to those dimensions as you can get and taping it on your hand. Then posting photos for us to see 8)

Here's a link to a diamond size chart that shows a 9.5 x 7.5 oval. I printed the page on my laser printer and the black and white image doesn't look nearly as big as the real diamond, but at least you can see what an oval about the size you are looking at looks like. Some of the other charts show 9.0 x 7.0 and then jump to 10.0 x 8.0, so this is the best one for you, I think.

No need to apologize, maybe I wasn't very clear (it's been known to happen).

Thanks for the link. Definitely some nice blingy action going on in there  I'll have to check it out in depth.

And the scissor, paper, ruler thing...not crazy at all. It's actually a pretty neat idea.

Great link/chart Libby, thank you. I saved it.

Re: Help with size perspective: Oval: 2.60ct: 9.70mm x 7.35m

I cut out several paper "Diamonds" including one with an added border for a halo setting I was considering.

Should I admit I cut one out a sequin "bell" so i could see the sparkle and size? lol
