Help with Non-Matching Wedding Set

Hi PS’ers,

I’m currently on the hunt for a wedding band to compliment my tapered baguette engagement ring. You can view my original post for further details here:

https://www.pricescope.com/communit...tapered-baguette-setting.229843/#post-4146435

I have finally decided on a non-matching set. I really didn’t like the matching baguette band that JA carries online (and they couldn’t provide an IRL photo of the set together) and similar bands with baguettes. I have been looking at eternity/anniversary bands and stumbled upon two bands that I think work well today. I am seeking your opinions about which set looks better and whether the price point is appropriate. I’m a big fan of online vendors and if you know of a comparable style band online please reference or provide the link.

Both bands sit very low and unfortunately I didn’t get hand shots to capture that aspect - it works well with my engagement ring as it is not a flush setting.

The first band is an extremely thin eternity pave band set in platinum. Bonus: the ring is already sized as a 4.5 and fits me perfectly so I would not have to order it. Price was $700 pre-tax. It’s and extremely delicate band and it really highlighted/showcased my e-ring.

The second band is a u-ternity band with .05 ct round diamonds, G/H VS2 set in 14k white gold. Price was $1800 pre-tax. I did like the set together with the larger stones as it gave me some bling factor that I have been craving. I have looked at bands with larger round diamonds but found that it overwhelmed my engagement ring.

I’ll attach pics in a reply to this thread. Apologies for the low quality pics as the shop was dim in the evening. Thanks xoxoxo Coco

Not helpful at all but I like both of them! I like the bottom one a tad more even though the top one looks like it matches the diameter of your ering shank and usually I like them to match.
The scalloped effect between the diamonds in the bottom band looks better with the round centre of your ering to my eye.
I think for both bands, you will probably need a spacer band between them and your ering so that the diamonds don't rub against each other or against your prongs. There are some good super thin knife edge spacers available on Etsy if you want something basically invisible.

I like them both, but I think (hard to tell, not great photos) that I like #1 more with your ER.

I’m posting some larger close up images. Still grainy but hopefully they can provide better detail. Thanks for your input, I’m really torn between the two!

I Love #2 but not with the er. To me, it competes with the ER. Alone, stunner.... with the ER.. too much going on.

Team Band #2. It compliments the ER, and stands alone, well. It also seems to sit more flush, but it may just be the size difference of the diamonds playing tricks with my eyes. Either way, l’m a fan of the WR being slightly wider, and “wow factor” enough to be seen on its own, should you decide not to wear your beautiful e-ring! Great choice, BTW! l have a similar style for my RHR, “Nancy”. ;)2
l like band #1 as a stackable option; more of an Anniversary gift. ;)2 Go big for the WR!

I think I prefer #2 as well. The width of the band seems to be more complimentary to your engagement ring. Is #2 the one you are leaning towards?

Definitely #1. But I like a thin wedding band look, probably because it makes the engagement ring stone stand out more.

I have a tapered baguette setting and for years wore a matching baguette band. But I got a 7 stone band from Whiteflash about 3 years ago, and I love, love, love it. I think it compliments my engagement ring well. But I wear it along a lot. So my vote is for #2.

Clearly you have to get both lololol bc we are split! At first glance I liked 1, then I liked 2 as you shared more pics.

When I'm stuck making a decision, I opt for the cheaper one lololol

I LOVE #2. I know I already voted but it's gorgeous. That's my dream look! #1 is too thin and almost too "matchy" IMO. I need details on #2:pray:

I think no. 1 looks more balanced with your gorgeous e ring. I do like 2, it just looks a bit too large and competes with, rather than compliments.

I love band #1 with your ering...lets your ering be the star of the show...However, if you are looking for a blingier look #2 is a great option.

I think you need something between the two. Have you tried the Tiffany shared setting 2.2mm? I just love the baguettes and your stone, don't settle!

Thanks everyone! I still have time to consider other options and I like the idea of looking at a band with a width between the two I tried @quaddio! Great suggestion!

@rockysalamander
Thanks for the links, I really love the first you posted!!! I have looked at similar bands in stores and just have not been impressed with the workmanship/quality. While I purchased my engagement ring from JA online and never tried it on I really have a desire to try the set on IRL. The proportions, width and height vary so much it is really hard to gauge what it looks like in person.

My ering is a round with flanking baguettes too - straight rather than tapered. It’s actually quite amazing (and frustrating!) that what you may love in a band on its own that doesn’t look right with a round and baguettes setting! You absolutely have to try things on to get a good feel for how it looks and fits together. Have you considered an engraved band if you can’t find a diamond one that works for you?

I like band 1. It looks like a set and compliments your e-ring. Band 2 looks like it doesn't fit as well with the ring physically, and competes with it visually. To my eye it looks like an unmatched set.

This. Love the first band. I think it compliments your e-ring so nicely. Plus you can always stack if you want.

I totally agree with this statement @foxinsox! I initially set out thinking that a band would be easy to find. I was shocked when I started trying on bands that looked so awkward and strange in combination with my engagement ring - although gorgeous on their own! An engraved ring is definitely another option to consider although I’m kind of partial torwards diamonds ... hehe!

I’m still conflicted but am thinking of just buying band 1 as it is a fair price point (set in platinum) and it’s exactly my size which never happens in stores. I can walk away with the ring “as is” “no hassles” and keep it as a stacking ring/starter wedding band while I look at larger eternity style bands in the interim. I feel I may be able to get a better deal on a style like the 2nd band if I look around more!
