Hey-any help will be appreciated. I have a 2.37 G SI2 stone specs:
8.53*8.60*5.25
depth 61
table 57
polish VG
Symmetry VG
Flour faint

The ring is GIA cert. & AGS 0. I also had it examined at AGI to confirm the spects. Problem is in some light, like the track lighting in my living room I see tinges of color. It is driving my crazy. Outside it looks white. I am seriously thinking of upgrading (just got engaged in Nov)because I hate to see the tinges of color. My skin is olive. If I upgrade what grade would I NOT SEE COLOR in? Must I go to an E?

You may well be seeing tinges of the light's color, not the diamond's color. Track lighting is notorious for having a LOT of yellow in it depending on the bulbs that you are using. It is highly unlikely that you are seeing any yellow in a G colored stone. Not to say it is not possible, just that it is highly unlikely.

Also, under track lighting you might be seeing flashes of dispersion and confusing the yellow flashes for tinges of color.

Just a thought.

Wink is right a D IF would look yellow under a lot of those lights.
If they use standard light bulbs replace them with ge reveal light bulbs and your diamond will be white again.
but.......
You funiture and your rug will show every last spec of dirt and dust it has on it as will your clothes.
It really increased contrast which is sssshhhhhh why home lights are sometime intentionaly tinted.
Yellowish and blueish lighting hides dust.
Ever notice that with artificial light your house looks clean but throw the drapes open and get bright sunlight in the room and you notice dust all over well put the reveal bulbs in and be prepared to see all the dust all the time :}
Id rather see a slighly yellower looking diamond :}

I agree that it would be hard to see such apparent color in a G stone esp if its excellently cut. Chances are it is picking up light color from elsewhere such as the track lighting or as others noted, clothes or furniture or even wall color. Personally I love seeing various colors in my stone from room to room or scenario to scenario. I would hate for my diamond to be as white as it appears in indirect lighting all the time, what a drag! The other day we were outside in part sun and shade, and I had my hand under the table of the restaurant and it was a lattice metal table. I looked down for a minute and saw that the diamond in my ring was right in the shade spot created by some of the lattice on the table, but right next to it on either side was the light let through by that same lattice. The scintillation and sparkle in that stone, the COLORS were so amazing, I have never seen any other lighting situation make my stone so alive, not even track lighting (which is famous for those beautiful flashes of color and light), or dim restaurant lighting. I was in amazement and just moved my hand back and forth. Part of the fun!

Catching your diamond in odd circumstances and seeing something new.

Lastly, I have olive skin tone and my diamond is an H and its very white to me. Olive skin tones in my opinion will make stones look whiter rather than more yellow. If I was pale, I think that the diamond would look less white against the darkness of my hand.

I have to agree with Mara here. If my stone looked white all the time, it would really be a drag! I love and seek out those lighting situations that make my diamond go ablaze with a rainbow of colors. I love the way my diamond looks!!!!
I had an F color diamond and changed it for a G color. I can say that I have not noticed any difference in color with the G color. If I did, I definitely would have changed it back to an F.
There is no guarantee that if you go higher in color to an E or F or even a D, that those same lighting conditions will not create the same effect on the new diamond.
Go for the larger upgrade if you want a larger diamond with better color and clarity, but expect to see some color depending on the lighting situations!!!!
In the meantime, enjoy what you have!
