Help with my diamond? (cut?)

This is my grandma's engagement ring. She got it in mid to late 50's and I think she was the first owner, but I am not sure.

The only thing I know about it is that the metal is gold (unsure how clean, the ring isn't stamped) and that the stone is diamond. Can anyone tell me which cut this is?

I was looking a bit at cuts online and I think this might be rose but honestly I'm quite clueless.

Here it is next to RB 0.48 I diamond in my platinum engagement ring. If anyone wants to guess on carat weight, be my guest.

Thanks for your help. Merry Christmas! =)

I think it looks like a rose cut stone but its kind of hard to tell from the photos.

I think it is beautiful! I think it looks like rose cut or something similar, too. Looks like a similar size to your e-ring diamond, too.

Ohhhhh both diamond rings are pretty! And how special it is to have your grandmother's diamond ring.

I'm not the diamond expert that some here are but I own a few rose cut diamonds and I love, love, LOVE them! I'm squinting to figure out if I can see a table (flat part) on the top of the diamond? A rose cut won't have a table, rather it's a round/ dome shape. A single cut diamond will have a table and I'd say your diamond "might" be one of those two cuts, even though single cuts are traditionally a lot smaller than your diamond appears in the photo, but the faceting along the outer edges of the diamond looks more like a single cut than any of the rose cut diamonds I am familiar with or the faceting patterns I have seen.

Very pretty and it is so special that it came from your grandmother.

It does look like there is a table :o looks like a single cut to me!
Sidetrack; Wasn't there another recent poster looking for a larger-than-melee size single cut?

Either way it's very beautiful. I love that it was your grandmothers. Makes it all the more special!
