Hello!

Recently purchased a cushion cut ering. My gf and I looked at a lot of diamonds in the DC area and finally selected this one. I'd like to get people's opinions on the GIA cert. It appers there are quite a few needles, a few feathers, and one cloud. It's an si2 diamond, but eyeclean (from what I can tell). Anything I should be concerend about?

Thanks

If you found it to be eyeclean, why does it matter what the cert says about the inclusions?

In general, because I want to be educated on something I spent a lot of money on. And I want to know if they could cause any problems in the future.

With Si2 grading and the types of inclusions, I don't believe there is much of a durability risk. Since you evaluated it with your own eyes and couldn't see the inclusions, if you also found that they didn't impact sparkle (sometimes clouds can make the diamond appear, well, cloudy and less sparkly), then you should be good to go. The inclusion plot looks a little scary but I've seen diamonds with scarier plots that I thought were fine.

Here is an article about feather inclusions:

Thanks. We choose this one because we found it had the best optics, and it wasn't overly deep(64), like almost every other cushion we saw. Could have had a deeper(68 or 69) vvs2 for the same money, but it just didn't flash as much.

Yeah, nice cushions are hard to find! As you can see in my avatar, my e-ring center stone is a cushion sapphire, and I just kind of lucked into it being decently cut. I've seen a whole lot that aren't. I hope you post pics of it!

From the looks of the report, you got some excellant marks for polish and symetry. The map can be useful when you want to make sure it's your diamond you're looking at if there is ever a question.
I think the most important aspect of diamond purchasing is that if you are buying an SI2 diamond, you're not paying a VS2 or SI1 price. You don't mention what the color is, and typically in my opinion, color and cut are the most important. After all, most people don't walk around with a loupe looking at the clarity of your diamond. It's the fire and brilliance and that comes from the cut. Your inclusions are unique to your diamond, and your diamond alone. If it sparkles and shines and you love it, that's what important. None of the inclusions should cause you any problems. Don't start to second guess yourself, enjoy your diamond!
