Hi everyone

I have been going throught the process of trying to find a nice diamond to upgrade my 23 year old engagement ring! I found what I thought was a lovely stone and with the advice I received in this forum put the stone on hold and paid for it in full.
The diamond company confirmed that yes the sale was sucessful and the diamond had been ordered and on its way.
Six days later they called me to advise that unfortunately the diamond was sold!!!!

I am so disappointed. I live in Australia and it is so difficult to find & buy a nice stone.

So they offered me another diamond. I''d appreciate your opinions.

Nikki,

At 3.3 the HCA is not fond of this option.

Your experience is the definition of bait & switch, and their lack of competence, if believed, related to it, does not add confidence.

Do you wish to get your money back? Are you satisfied a) that what happened to them could happen to anybody, and/or b) that they know what happened, and can explain to you why it would not happen again?

Surely, the past experience is grounds for starting over, if that is your choice. If it were me, I would have to know what they would do differently next time...though would be concerned that they should have known to do whatever it is they should have done, the first time.

Whether for another vendor or another stone (or easily enough both), I''d keep looking.

Sorry, of course.

Hi

thanks for your reply. I felt awful after being told I had missed out on that diamond. I have spoken to the vendor and they seem apologetic and have offered me a refund or they can try to find another diamond for me. I think I will get them to try once more and see what happens.
I will post any alternatives they provide.
thanks again for your help, I really appreciate your comments

Hi,

What you''re feeling is natural. They took your money.... probably $10k + or - and ordered it and had problems. I think the main point here is they did not even call you. (period!)

All the vendors I know would have been up-to-date with communications.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you don''t have many places to go to for a diamond and are feeling at the mercy of a mediocre vendor and not a highly reputable company who relies on your good experience to keep business.

It''s a shame but if I were you I would be proactive and do a diamond search on pricescope, tradeshop, abazias, whiteflash and see if what the dealer you''re using is also in-line with his pricing.

The simple fact is that they are holding your money while you decide! Tha influences your mindset... Now they hold the cards and you cannot be in this situation for you are now totally without your rightful negotiating power.

You are at their mercy now..... GET OUT OF THAT UNFAIR POSITION and protect yourself.

There is a lot of your money at stake.

GET it back NOW, today, right now then start with your right! Your money and begin again without the stress you''re in.

You cannot sit back and let them have control of your money. They will, if they have your money, take advantage of you.

Do yourself a favor and de-stress to get yourself out of distress. Ask for your money back and post this forum if you have any problems. Do not take no for an answer.

God Bless,
Brent
