My husband and I are working on my E ring which is replacing a temp moissy ring. We were saving for house and in vitro so didn't spurge on ring. In Vitro was successful but one of our twins has many special needs, medical, cognitive and physical, so a ring was low priority despite my being a nurse practitoner. Now we have been married 9 years, and feel like we can get a ring. My husband knows that I really want one. We are working with a local jeweler. We found a beautiful diamond from Adiamor and have bought that.

Here are the stats.
GIA certified 1.01 cushion. I color with medium fluorescence (Faces up beautifully white) VS2. 6.50 x 5.55 x 3.51. Found same diamond on excel diamonds for $300 more than we paid on Adiamor. Both sites had links to GIA certificate so I knew it was the same stone.

I have been searching for a setting and have waffled between many. I thought I had found one that my jeweler and I found in one of her catalogs that can be casted for her to do the work. I meet with her on Wednesday, but I have now found the setting I love. However it is with MDC Diamonds and I am a little hesitant not knowing anything about them. Sylvia is going to credit me foe gold that I have and sone diamonds that I have from an couple of old coctail rings that I have and some diamond melee gnat I own from my own collection.

The setting is 0.68 carats with 34 diamonds. I love the basket and stems and would have melee put on stems also. MDC would make the ring for a "bigger" stone ( didn't say for my stone or my measurements) only if I allow them to set their own melee. I want to be sure I get quality melee with lots of sparkle. This will be my forever ring that I have waited so long for.

Here is the link to the setting: http://mdcdiamonds.com/engagementdetails.cfm?Stock=ES600&Country=US#

I have been on dozens of sites and have found similar rings but none with the same curve of the stems.

Any ideas???

Sorry this was so long and I appreciate your a help! Thanks in advance.

welcome to ps :wavey:

i apologies i think no one posted on this because its a little hard to understand your question well enough to answer.

are you looking for similar settings to show your guy to replicate? Or one you can buy outright? maybe a question about what to do with your stones??

You are looking at a halo and that design can be easily replicated by the PS venedors. I would say the one you linked us to looks pretty crappy to me in terms of workmanship so I wouldn't go there. I recommend you have your original vendor (if you trust them) to do it. But I honestly recommend you trying out Engagement Rings Direct. I am confident they can execute this ring far better. I am not sure if they will take your gold but doesn't hurt to ask.

Thank you both for your replies. I agree the one from MDC looks pretty "crappy". I do,like the style. I found a micro pave split halo from Steven Kirsch that is just beautiful. I saw my jeweler on Tuesday and showed her my ideas. She is going to do a wax model and we will work from there.

This is the link to what I am aiming for. http://www.stevenkirsch.com/engagement/halo/r0128.html

And I have decided to set our birthstones inside the band such as this.

I am very excited.

Sounds cute! Have you seen examples of this persons work and are happy with their quality?

Very nice. Your dream ring is a harry winston inspired halo (HW The One Ring) and it is very popular on PS :appl:

If I may the MCD setting had cathedral shoulders. I would get rid of those (unless you like them- all personal taste) and just have the struts curve into the shank/ donut. I would also remind you jeweler to tilt the halo (typically 25%) so it doesn't look like a flying saucer is attached to the head. Here is a profile shot of my HW inspired halo that will show the angle better.

I love your ring Sarahbear621 . It is absolutely beautiful! I sent an email to Steven Kirsch to get a quote. I have seen Sylvia's work and she is a perfectionist. But I would like to see what the ring from Steven Kirsch would cost. I have a lot of gold and diamonds that Sylvia will credit me. I am excited about my ring and want something lovely, but with 6 year old twins and one of he special needs, I don't want to break the bank. :cheeky:

ERD does a very good CAST model of this ring which I think is around 2.5k. They might do a trade in for gold and dimaonds. It never hurts to ask.
