hello again:

so i''ve pretty much narrowed down what i''m looking for, however, i think i''m letting the inclusions get to me.
can you please help rate the 2 choices below? i know asschers are tough to judge w/o a picture, but any opinions would be great.
also, this will be in a split shank setting.

1) E VS2 - 2.01 CT
Depth: 69.7
table: 62
Cutlet: N
Fluorescenece: N
6.89x6.83x4.76
Girdle: VTK
P: Ex
Sym: G

Inclusion image from GIA report (attached as gia23.jpg). i saw these in person and liked the EVS2, but i may be overthinking the inclusion and the girdle.

2) F VS2 - 2.04 CT - This one is priced about 1k lower.
Depth: 68.9
table: 61
Cutlet: N
Fluorescenece: N
6.98 x 6.89 x 4.75
Girdle: TK to VTK
P: Ex
Sym: G

Unfortunately, I don''t have an inclusion image for this one. However, at the store, there was this one inclusion that was throwing me off.

dumb question, but in the diamond world, does it really matter when the stone was released? It seems if the GIA report was from last year that the stone has been going around. just curious.

thanks again. this site has been a great help.

looks like 2 clouds and a crystal and a small feather.
Dont see anything too worry about.

report date isnt an issue, they can float around for a couple years before selling.
With the good symmetry they are less active online but seeing them in person its ok, because you can check them for issues.

I have a VS2 asscher with 2 small clouds in the exact same place, there''s really nothing to worry about. VS2s are completely eye clean and even under a loupe I had a tough time seeing the clouds.

On a side note, it seems that there are quite a few people who own or who are buying asschers here at PS. Based on this forum, you''d think they''d be really popular but personally I don''t know anybody else who owns one, nor have I seen any on random women walking down the street.

thanks for the comments.

strmdr: based on the numbers, do you feel that it''s within a preferred asscher cut range? i believe the ratio is 1.01? would you recommend one over the other based solely on the numbers?

the girdle is vtk though. again, i know it''s tough w/o the actual images. i''m actually trying to get a hold of images of the stone, so i''ll be able to post those if i do get them.

newenglandlady: thanks. when i saw the fvs2, i was able to see the cloud when i help it up towards a light w/o a loupe. that, in a way, made me hesitant on this stone. the evs2 wasn''t as severe.

yes the numbers are within range.
The girdle is hiding some weight but thats a fact of life with the cut these days.

strmrdr:

thanks again for your feedback. i'll try to post pics if i can get a hold of them. hopefully it'll be soon.

also, i realized that you provided me with this information in another post. sorry for the double post. just me being overly careful on a big purchase.

also, i noticed there's a small feather on the edge of the gia image (left side). does a feather on the edge impact anything? i've read that this may cause the edge to chip easily.

as long as the feather isnt open to the crown its fine.
its tiny.
also from the picture can tell how deep in the stone it is but unless its open too the crown its a non-issue to me.

i got the pictures. not the ideal lighting condition though

here''s the e

here's the F

also, there's a noticable black inclusion in this stone

both look well cut.
Can you see the inclusion in the second with just your eyes?

thanks strmrdr!

in regards to the F. yes, when i hold it to the light, i can see the black dot.

the e has one as well, but not as severe. can''t really see it when i hold it up.

the e seems to shine a little more (not sure if this is the lighting).

strmrdr:

i wanted to thank you again for your help and information. i ended up going with the E VS2.
Although the fvs2 was slightly bigger and cheaper, the inclusion was making me hesitant. The E seemed to pop more.
