Greetings Everyone,

I came across this fabulous and informative website a couple of months ago via a financial forum. Its been extremely helpful in getting me from completely clueless to somewhat informed. Since I didn't want post a complete newbie question, I took the time to try to read a lot of the previously asked questions before I put this up and forgive me if I missed the answers somewhere already.

My longtime sweetheart is LONG overdue for an engagement ring and after we visited a local B&M, I was able to get a much better idea of what she wanted. She wants a princess cut and is much more interested a quality, sparkling diamond that a huge rock. From what I can gather the cut is what gives a princess the sparkle, fire and glitter. The clarity and color are important as well but from my readings it doesn't have as much effect on the WOW factor. Further reading taught me that GIA doesn't give a cut grade on princesses, only AGS does and upon the advice of this forum I began to see that what I probably should look for is an AGS0 (Ideal) graded diamond. Given that information, I started using Pricescope's wonderful search tool and discovered the etailers websites of GOG, B2C, WF etc. I've spent a long time trolling CL in my area and several other large cities nearby but have been unable to find anything that was right and that was being sold for a reasonable price. I did after all want to have my cake and eat it too!

I've narrowed down what I'm looking for and was hoping to get the input and direction of the folks here for advice.

She's chose a very simple three stone setting (specifically this one) which she saw at the B&M. I've found it to be a pretty common setting, so I figured I'll purchase it as the same place I end up getting the center stone but I put it here for reference.

My budget for the center is $4000 to $6500 but I would and will go higher if its a great deal or there's something a little higher that's far superior. I've been looking at G or greater, VS2 or greater, 0.94 carats or greater and now that I understand better the importance of the cut, an Excellent or better.

My search has landed me these three:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9419/

What I need help is trying to figure out is why the B2C seems to be so much less than the other two?

Is it because the other two are AGS0 as opposed to the B2C one which is rated only Excellent?

Are there any of one these that are far superior to another (price vs quality) or that stand out?

Have I missed something else I should be looking at? Any and all advice, thoughts and/or critics are welcomed and appreciated.

If I haven't provided sufficient information please let me know what else is needed to receive wisdom from the sages here.

GIA Excellent has a much broader range for cut. AGS is stricter for "ideal" (0). AGS tests for light performance.

You can drop your clarity requirements to "eye clean" to get more bang for your buck. The cut is what gets you that WOW! :) Another thing is take note of the measurements vs carat weight - and make sure the princess is not too deep. A deeper stone is both smaller on top and the depth usually affects the cut.

Here's another lovely whiteflash stone in your budget - at 5.5 mm-ish:

It's actually larger in measurements than the B2C stone you posted - which is super deep.

You've got two really lovely choices in the first two diamonds. The B2C diamond I'd rule out simply because you don't have enough information just from the numbers, and I don't believe B2C provides any additional info.

One thing I notice is that the GOG stone is a three chevron, and the WF a four chevron.

So the three chevron should give less frequent, bolder flashes and the four chevron more frequent, smaller flashes.

Thanks for the information on chevrons. I was unaware of this and will take it into consideration. Regarding the B2C I've axed it due to the lack of information and the confidence everyone seems to have in GOG and WF. Thank you!
