When I was using this forum a few years ago, someone sent me a link to a webpage where I can see the HCA score of a round diamond after I make input of different criteria (e.g. the angle, crown, table, etc.). I forgot what the link is and couldn’t find it anymore. Could someone please send it to me again? I know that it might be too basic for some of you but it would be very helpful for me because I am in the process of searching for a diamond for my mom's 60th birthday. Thanks.

lovemydiamond...you can find the link here: www.pricescope.com/tools/hca

remember that the HCA is a great tool to eliminate poor performing diamonds. but once the score is under 2.0, if i'm not mistaken, personal preference will dictate which one is considered "better". a score of 0.7 is not necessary a better performing stone than a 1.8 or 1.9.

Here's a video of the Holloway talking about the HCA: http://www.youtube.com/user/garryholloway#p/u/31/sHXsaZiPggo

Hi LMD,

If you use the link that Naclux provided and click on ' go' once you have entered the proportions, it will take you to a page that shows the various usages and warnings etc which also might be helpful.

Nac also gave a very good description of the use of the HCA, as he states, the aim is to score 2 or below then evaluate from there with images, trusted vendor/ appraiser input and lastly your own taste and preference. Also stones that score between 2 and 3 can also be excellent choices if they have top symmetry and supporting images such as Idealscope.

Thanks to both of you. It is very helpful.
