Hi guys. I could really use your help.

I really really love this ring from Tiffany's
http://www.tiffany.com/engagement/Item.aspx?GroupSKU=GRP10024

I'm trying to have a jeweler whom I trust and know make it himself but I want to give him photos. I want the ring to be as close to Tiffany's setting as possible. Is there a way to get better photos of the ring, or can most jewelers make a good copy just using the photos on TCO's website?

The stone I'm considering is 1.52 carats. I think the exact ring I want is around $35K at TCO but I'm not sure what the markup there is. For a similar quality diamond, what should the price from a non-label jeweler be?

Also, what size should the side stones be to get the Tiffany's look given the 1.52 center stone?

Hi!
I found a 1.44 F RB with Pear side stones on ebay that is a Tiffany ring for 21k but you can make an offer. To get a round stone with those specs. The lab report is from 2001 which would explain why the price hasn't increased much at all (report appraisal is 19k). Here is the link

However if you want to go the custom route there are quite a few vendors who have made stunning 3 stones with pears.

A jeweler won't copy a Tiffany and Co design to the T bc of copy right laws. However you can get a good similar ring made that's equally as beautiful as the orginal that you saw though many vendors on here.
Good luck!

Thank you. Those all look great.

Is the TCO design really proprietary? I thought this was one of the non-proprietary TCO settings.

An expert would have to chime in on the laws in regards to copy rights. However depending on the color/clarity of the ring you want you could be looking at 20k to make something similar. For a stone of close specs to the one listed on the ebay Tiffany listing is around 17k. The 2 pear side stones are high color/clarity so I'm sure those would be another couple grand total plus 2k (that's a conservative guess for a custom setting) so in total you'll be around 22k to remake the ring that you could buy (or make an offer for less) on ebay and still keep the Tiffany and Co name.

However if you wanted to get something custom made the setting will be probably around 2k (or more depending on the metal you use from an online vendor, not sure what a private jeweler would cost) and if you got a 1.5 G color and VS1 your looking at around 15k for an ideal cut stone online. That doesn't include side stones or anything else (and you could go even to a J in color and they'll face up white in ideal cut diamonds and save even more money on the center stone and have matching color for the pair side stones and save more there, to give you an example an I VS1 ideal cut stone is around 11-12k instead of 15k).

It's all about what your looking for and what you want. The style you are getting is classic and beautiful and I'm sure no matter what you get it's going to be great.

Brian Gavin's "Summer" setting is very similar to the Tiffany.

I personally prefer his "Grace 3 Stone Pears" which is featured in the 1st link that VintageLover posted....so elegant and seems to make the stones pop!

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/home/ring-details/?product_id=5557

Their pricing is for 0.20ct sides (each pear) but they can do larger, of course. It looks like the Tiff one that VintageLover posted has sides that are abt 0.28ct each.

if you are getting a local jeweler to make a ring with pear shaped sidestones, I would make sure that you view the sidestones before the ring is set because getting pears to match can be tricky. I had an issue with a local jeweler (they did not match by eye...just called in matched pairs and they were not a good enough match for me). I had a 3-stone with pear sides made by BGD and they did a great job!

A setting like that including diamonds from a highly reputable vendor like BG Dis $2000. A 1.5ct G VS2 H&A with AGS0 cut grade (equal or better cut quality that Tiffany) is around $20k. So a very substantial markup from Tiffany (depending on the color/clarity of the comparison stone at Tiffany).

Here are a few threads that I had bookmarked which might help you...

The first thread is a gallery of RB/pear sidestone rings that have been seen here on PS...lots of pics and will give you a good idea of what different ratios look like: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/for-the-new-trend-blowing-in.42128/

The second thread features a person who was wanting a T&Co inspired ring...they went with Whiteflash...great pics of their wax model which might help you in dealing with your local jeweler: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ar-sides-setting-any-help-very-welcome.23646/

The third thread has great discussion regarding possible ratios of sidestones to center stone: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/settings-for-round-with-2-pear-sides.31903/

Hope this helps! Please keep us updated on your journey and post pics of the finished product!
