Hi Folks,

Back again. I'm about buy a 1.7 tcw 5-stone ring (.34s) with GIA diamonds. Could anyone please look over these GIA reports before I buy? I did compare it to PS values and all but one seem to fit all the cut parameters. I'm mainly concerned that it's SI2. I can visibly see one scratch mark in the center of the first diamond. The remaining 4 have confetti looking things strewn about but may not be visible to the naked eye. Thanks so much!

Have you seen the stones in person? I'm a little hesitant (although they look good in your pics) to say they're ok when they are all
SI2s with clouds as the grade setting inclusion.

I'm ok with all the numbers except the last report with the 41.6 high pavilion. I would need to see a good picture of that stone or an aset image.

You posted 6 pics but only have 5 stones so not sure how they match up (GIA with pics).

Ditto to @tyty333 about the clouds. The second to last photo looks a little milky/hazy. Is that the stone that only has "cloud" noted? Also ditto on the 41.6 angle.

You've done a great job of matching table sizes for this ring, but for me personally, I think the crown height variation is bit too much (34-35.5). I like to look at my rings from the side and that may/may not be something that would bother you/your wife. We tend to be a little crazier than most around here!

PS Such an amazing gift! Your wife is going to be thrilled!

@syndrome I am not an expert as others are and I rarely give advise but since I just received my 5 stone ring, I though I would reach out. I saw on your other thread that you were possibly looking at the trellis from Whiteflash. I just received my modified 5 stone trellis from Whiteflash and I am so happy with it. Again, I am no expert, but Whiteflash does have ACAs in F & G VS1/VS2 if you would consider a combination of color and a little smaller. Then you could get a higher clarity. I did a search on their site of .32-.35, F-G, VS1-VS2, in-house and there are 10 diamonds that come up. If you include SI1, 4 additional diamonds come up at a lower price point to help stay in budget. Of course, Whiteflash could help to find the 5 that match the best.

I agree with @Siamese Kitty , Your wife will be thrilled!

Thanks for your help! I combed through BN again. I now have these 5 diamonds on hold. Btw, we had an excellent experience with Brian Young through Blue Nile. He was able to get a stock order for size 4.25 after much effort. If anyone is interested, I'm happy to share all about it in another post.

They are .32-.33ct each, F color, SI1&SI2, Ideal cut (plugging in PS recommended parameters). $3400 (after a coupon that Brian used) for a 1.64tcw 5-stone ring set in platinum with hand-selected GIA certified stones.

May I humbly seek your guidance once more to vet these stones?

Are you sure you really want to go this large with a size 4.25 finger? These will go beyond the top of her finger and down between her fingers.
This wouldn't bother some people but others would find it really uncomfortable.

My avatar shows a 7 stone 1.4 ctw (size 7 setting) that barely touches the fingers next to it. I do not find it uncomfortable. However the stones
are a good deal smaller. We have had some PSers reset their rings because the stones between their fingers were uncomfortable.

Does BN have a lower setting like this
or

I would ask that the stones be set as low as possible so they dont stick up so much (more comfort between fingers).

I agree with @tyty333, my 5 stone is 1.25ctw on a size 5.5 and it completely covers my finger.

Thanks for the input! Only way to know is to order it because settings in stores are always too big. I feel good about BN’s return policy and I’m glad she’ll finally be able to try on in her size. She’s got pretty big gaps between her fingers so hoping it works out. 87C5135A-73DD-4054-B5EA-5FAEE952E255.jpeg
