I have a beautiful rose gold solitaire 0.5 carat from Adiamor as per link, except the basket is platinum.

http://www.adiamor.com/Engagement-R...-Custom-Fit-Basket-Solitaire/18KRoseGold/1792

I'm hoping to get a 5 or 7 stone as my wedding band but have no idea what size diamonds to get.
I've spent most of my weekend trying to find someone with a rose gold band with finger size of about 4.5-4.75 to no avail and most 5 or 7 stones I've seen tend to be worn alone or with a ring of at least 1 carat.

I don't want the band to be too overpowering or stick out too much on the sides and would like it to have quite a low profile as my setting starts about 2mm above the band.
(I've read that Tiffany's and Memories tend to be the lowest?)

Wondering if you more experienced people will be able to give some advice on points per stone and the number I should have to fit with my band?

Thanks in advance!! :)

(Added a few photos for size on my finger)

PS Apologies for the huge photos too!

Nothing over 5 point stones with that, if you are wearing them together. I recommend the Dream band by BGD, nice and low and meant to be worn with a solitaire.

Go to stores, leave your wallet at home, and tey on absolutely everything you can even at Tiffany and high end stores.

Thanks for such a prompt reply Gypsy!

Would you believe I actually already had that ring bookmarked! Thanks for the advice :)

Have you tried just a simple 2mm pave band with it?

So you like this look at all? With a single band? http://pin.it/0ZuCYC2

Re: Help! Specs for a 5 or 7 stone band are driving me crazy

I have tried a pave band and that's originally what I was looking for but, when trying to decide between a 3/4 or 1/2 eternity, found the other stone bands. My fingers are quite long and slender so I thought it would be nice to have something with a little more size (but nothing that was had too much metal width ways).

I'm also not sure how safe pave bands are with loosing diamonds etc.?

And with regards to the link- I'm more of a plain girl. I think the intricate details look gorgeous with some people's sets but most of my jewellery is simpler :)

I have simple tastes too, for my personal pieces. I have a 2mm platinum pave myself. Mine is scott kay and a tank. I wear it 24/7 and do everything with it. Nothing has even budged a stone in it for 8 years. I dont know if Scott Kay does mine in Rose Gold, else I'd highly recommend it.

Pave it depends on the quality. Because you want rose gold, the selection is less. If you stick to a brightcut band like the Legato pave band by WF or the Truth pave band those would be best.

Thanks! I'd been trying to figure out which one it was and see if I could find a photo of your set - no such luck. Is there a thread where you've posted a photo with it and your solitaire?

HiTeachMeToDiamond -

I originally had a half carat diamond solitaire engagement ring which I wore with a band of 6pt stones. It was too much and overwhelmed the solitaire. In retrospect, I think 3 pt stones would have been far better.

Tiffany has a band of 9 x 3 point stones, and I think that would look wonderful with your ring (which I think is glorious, by the way!) I think something like this would look wonderful with your ring. It's important to remember that, although the stones may be small, they still add up to a lot of length and surface area which can be overwhelming for a modest solitaire.

http://www.tiffany.com/jewelry/rings/shared-setting-band-ring-GRP00005?fromGrid=1&search_params=p+1-n+10000-c+287462-s+5-r+-t+-ni+1-x+-lr+-hr+-ri+-mi+-pp+2998+6&search=0&origin=browse&searchkeyword=&trackpdp=bg&fromcid=287462&trackgridpos=,#p+1-n+10000-c+287462-s+5-r+-t+-ni+1-x+-pu+-f+false+1-lr+-hr+-ri+-mi+-pp+2998%2B6

Anyone could make you a ring like this in rose gold.

Alternately, a pave band with 2 or 3 pt stones would be gorgeous. I'd save the 5 stone ring for your other hand - at which point I'd probably do 5 x 20 pointers or 7 x 15 pointers so your e-ring wasn't overwhelmed - even on the other hand!

Good luck!

Thanks ac117 :)

Mrs-Blop - thanks for your kind words, thoughts and advice. Very useful to have knowledge from someone who was in the same situation!

What do you all think of this ring: http://www.bluenile.com/au/monique-...nd-ring-platinum_57620?elem=img&track=product
I would be getting it in rose gold as well if they are able (in the process of finding that out).

If I'm not mistaken it would then be about 4ish points per stone?
I'm trying to avoid the (what I imagine to be tedious) process of designing a ring at this stage in the game as life is too chaotic already! I also have heard that generally it is more expensive and we are trying to minimise that cost by going through an American company (rather than Australian) as America tends to be cheaper (without compromising on quality).

The BN price seems on the higher side. I would call ID Jewelry, tell them that Pricescopers sent you, and ask for a quote with PS quality melee.

Re: Help! Specs for a 5 or 7 stone band are driving me crazy

Hello! I'm chiming in as I don't have a lot of diamond knowledge like these other famous posters but I did recently purchase a 0.4 ct 5 stone band from BGD. Band looks great and I'm in love with it with the times I've secretly worn it before my anniversary. Anyhow, I assumed that even though I wear it on my right hand that it doesn't compete with my left but the large stones and my smaller finger size of 4.25 ct makes me wonder if 0.3 cts would have been more appropriate. I wouldn't say I necessarily regret the purchase as I just have hard time being bold but I just wanted to mention to try on different rings and stone sizes to get an understanding. However, though I've tried on as many rings as I could locally, the end product was still different enough that it surprised me. I think this was due to trying on rings that weren't my ring size but who can control what inventory vendors have to try on. Also, the B&M stores didn't have the quality of diamonds that PS vendors had so the end product by BGD also looked "larger" in that perspective as well.

Hope this helps more than it does confuse in terms of things to consider. I also wanted to err on the side of being too large in stone size than too small knowing that it didn't have to perfectly match as a set with future pieces to come. Have a great day!

Hi TeachMeToDiamond :)

Your link to the ML ring on the Blue Nile site isn't working for me. Is it the full eternity of the part eternity ring? Is it the one which is $1700? Personally, I'd go with the Luna Diamond Ring in platinum, 1/3 ctw. It's $1220 and I think the size of the stones would work better with your ring. Each stone is 2.5pts. However, if it was no hardship to spend the $1700, I'd go with the Pave Diamond Ring in platinum, which uses stones just over 3 points (which personally I think is your sweet spot) and is $1700. I think it would be a far more comfortable ring to wear, and I much prefer pave to shared prong; I think it's a much more elegant look. It's stock number is 17401.

I'm sure this is going to be terrific!

Thanks again for the words of wisdom and advice!

PintoBean - I will definitely be sussing out ID Jewelry.

Mrs Blop- it is the 1/2 eternity. I love the Luna however am trying to keep the height under 2mm. I do like the pave though (assuming you are talking about the Colin Cowie one?)

I think I've definitely progressed to no longer wanting a 5 stone band to a 7 or more.

These are my current front runners:
Colin Cowie Pave Diamond Ring

If you want pave, stick with BGD or WF. They are going to have the kind of quality you need for a wedding band. Regarding the Dream, ask them if they can make it with 3 pointers.
