Hi there,

I'm trying hard to find a decent stone for a very dear friend of mine who intends to propose to his rather fabulous girl in the next couple of weeks. His budget (for the stone) is not so great at $3400. But, I've convinced him to steer away from jeweller's shops, and trust me to locate a great diamond and mount it for him. Whilst I do have reasonable knowledge as to where, and what to look for, I thought that if any of you had a few moments to spare, I'd value other opinions! So I'm looking for a Round, Ideal, SI1/VS2, I colour or better... Nil/Faint, decent mm size - so preferably sub 61 depth, and a low HCA. All views welcome!

...and 6+ mm! Shoot, I'd be all over this! :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Good find, Niel! :appl: :wavey:

Same diamond here for 300 less: http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-5015458-0.83-carat-Round-diamond-I-color-VS1-Clarity.aspx?sku=5015458&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com I'd be all over THAT! (You can also ask Ritani to price match and they will). Whichever has a better return, upgrade, etc policies is who I'd use. So make sure you ask Ritani what their policies are (they state they will price match) and compare those to B2C's (which are posted right on that page).

ETA: I don't see an upgrade policy at Ritani. So if that's important to you, I suggest you buy from B2C for the stone.

Great job all, lots of excellent suggestions! :appl:

THANK YOU for all these wonderful suggestions and options!!!
Another stone I was looking at has been reserved for me by Adiamor under: GIA 6131063905.
(0.85 ct. VS2, I col, Nil Fl, GIA triple X, 6.15-6.13mm diameter, 33.5 crown, 40.8 pav, 60.4 depth,
HCA 1.0 ex,ex,ex,vg. $2870.00 wire price.) Any views on this one everyone?

I'll try, although this is a service they don't normally seem to offer.

Sounds good, I wasn't sure with this vendor whether they supplied images or not but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Does anyone have any views on this diamond: GIA 5161182954 ?
0.87, VS2, H, 6.17 - 6.22mm. GIA 3X.
The HCA score is: 1.8 ex,vg,vg,vg, (I would have expected ex,ex,ex,vg based on the measurements, but not quite, the Pav. angle needs to drop to 40.8 to achieve that.) It's offered at $3700. No scope image is available. Any thoughts welcome.

GIA rounds numbers so the actual pavilion angle could be less than 41.

The spread is great. The color is great. And the clarity is VS2. Is it eyeclean?

I think its a definite contender. Though slightly over budget.

Re: Help for a Round - max budget only $3400. STONE FOUND!

Thanks for your help everyone.
In the end we went with a BN option:

0.82, GIA 3X, crystal, pinpoint,
SI1 (Confirmed eye-clean)
I colour,
Faint Fl.
57.0 Table
60.5 Depth
34.0 Crown
40.8 Pav.
6.13 mm/6.10 mm,
Thin/Med. girdle,
HCA 1.0.
Price $3008. (nicely under budget)

- So fingers crossed we don't need to use their returns option on this spec...

On paper it looks very promising, please report back when the diamond arrives, you did a great job helping your friend, well done!

Will do!

That's great. And very budget friendly! Hope you love it!

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all your help a few weeks ago.
As promised a pic of the .82 ct. diamond stated. It looked awesome on arrival. Mounted it appears completely white, and at 6.13 mm, does a really good job of looking almost a ct. Has decent H/As - particularly for the money paid - and is now on a finger. Not the best image, but all I've got - and at least it gives an idea + one very happy couple!!

Thank you!
