My fiance

just bought very lovely RB diamond for my engagement ring.

0.60 carat stone for my tiny 5 1/2 size finger.
(Just curiosity, I tested with 1 carat and it looked too big on my finger)

Of course, we checked with Ideal Scope while shopping for the stone.
I personally wanted a diamond that are in the "Brilliant Ideal Cut" range.

We think we nailed the right one

since Ideal Scope view produced
well defined arrows and pink background almost everywhere except some edge portions.

Now, I want to take an Ideal Scope view of my diamond.

There are lots of people on this BBS that posted excellent photos.
May I ask how you guys set up your diamond, ideal scope and camera?

I have a x6 magnified Ideal Scope and Casio EXILIM digital camera.

Your suggestion is deeply appreciated!!

GIA certification says:
Measurement - 5.38-5.41x3.32 mm
Depth - 61.5 %
Table - 57 %
Girdle - slightly thick to thick, faceted
Polish - excellent
Symmetry - Very Good
Clarity - VS1
Clarity characteristic - cloud
Color - F
Culet - None
Fluorescence - None
Comment - None

Try this
In macro mode if your camera has a high power - take the pink insert out and do not use the lens.

Or in normal camera mode photograph straight thru the lens (harder). Try putting the camera lens right up on the ideal-scope.

use the ideal-light if you have it - or some difussed backlight.

I took two IS photos of my stone this weekend....It was interesting to see the differences...For both, I taped the whole idealscope over the camera lens. I took one inside at night, and one outside on a very sunny day. The pictures are very different!! I will have to try w/out the IS lens, since I have macro mode.

IMO Idealscope pictures are hard to take properly. I think heart pictures are the hardest. I don''t even try anymore. The vennors that take them have spent a great deal of effort to get theirs looking the way they do.

Thank you everyone for your kind reply.

I will follow Garry''s direction to set up camera sometime this weekend.

It looks very challenging to take a good photo of Ideal Scope View.

Nevertheless, I shall cross my fingers and wish for the best!
