I think I have decided on a setting for my pink/red spinel that I got from Dana. It is the one mentioned by herekittykitty - https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/someone-go-buy-this.164582/... A better picture and description is here : http://www.mastercutgems.com/preview.php?cat=284&id=6217..

After much wringing of hand and countless hours of looking at ring mounts, I want to have it set in a design similar to natsplat's engagement ring. In a previous post she said it would be okay for me to copy her design. Here is a link -----https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/danielm-barryb-e-ring-handshots.164649/. The ring can also be found in danielm's site. I am thinking of using 18 k yellow gold with the spinel set in the center with 2 Namibian natural aquamarines ,tw .88 tcw ,5mm diameter as the side stones.

I would appreciate any feedback, ideas, suggestions about my idea. I am ready to order the ring but would like to hear from PS members before I commit.

You have a big YES vote here. That's a gorgeous ring & your spinel is to drool! Super idea.

Yes here too, but I'd still love to see more pictures of it.

I LOVE Natsplat's ring and I LOVE your stone, but I would lay it out with aquamarines and see what you think. I am always afraid of other stones competing with the stone's beauty. :?

Oh yey, you're gonna do it! That will be so cool, and I'm very flattered that you like my setting design enough to want one for yourself

I agree with minous that I would like to see a layout of the stones all together before moving on. I adore pillarbox red and teal together as it has that fab 1920s vibe, and so I can see how pink spinel with aquas would work, but minous' point about the side stones taking some of the heat away from the gorgeous centre stone may be something to consider.

Excited to see your progress on it...! :twirl:

Thanks everyone for your comments.

JewelFreak and herekittykitty- Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am really excited about proceeding !

Minousbijoux and Natsplat- Thanks for the suggestions- I have put the aquamarines and spinel together and I really like the combination. The aquamarines are very light in color but have a lot of sparkle, so they are pretty but don't detract from the spinel. I will try to post some pictures later.

Any update on this project?
