Today, as I walked into Robbins Bros to try on the Ritani Endless Love setting for the 59th time, another setting caught my eye. Platinum prong set, pave sides, engraving. A setting made by Coast Diamonds. It's beautiful, and it completely made me change my mind.

Price: $1895

As I walked out, I thought, "Eh, I'll find a better price somewhere else."

...later that day, we drove to a local B&M that carries Coast Diamond settings, and their price for the same setting: $1850.00

I've searched online a bit for this setting and can't really find anything, and the two places we did find it had it for basically the same price ($45.00 difference, big deal!). Should we bite the bullet and pay the $1895 (with the lifetime guarantee from Robbins Bros) or try to find it for less somewhere else? Does Robbins Bros. match prices? Do you think Whiteflash would be able to order it, and set my diamond in it?

Confused (and in need of help!),
Emily

I don''t know if the Robbins Bros. is the same as Robbins Diamonds in the NJ/PA area?? If so, I got my e-ring, wedding band and now my Ritani 3 stone ring there (among other things!) and have always been very happy with them. They definitely work with you on the price, it is not set in stone. I think for $45 they will happily meet or beat the price to get your business! Btw, I am partial to Ritani''s, but this ring is beautiful too! :) Good luck... Jill

You wont find much difference in prices on name designs.
The design houses set a min. price the dealer can charge.

I agree with storm. your probably not going to find a huge discount on a designer setting, but I would think you would definitely have a little room to negotiate..it never hurts to ask.

Thanks for the replies, guys! Now, this is opinion only, but...do you think $1895 is a fair price for that setting in platinum? It has .30 carats of diamonds on the band, and beautiful engraving.

I think it''s a very fair price. I actually had a great experience with RB''s once they realized that I was educated... And you cannot beat their lifetime guarentee. I ended up with the Ritani endless love collection and I sleep better at night knowing that they will replace any of those little pave diamonds, should they fall out.. for free!

I love that setting and thinks it''s very pretty. The price doesn''t seem out of line to me. But you''re the one out there searching, so if you can get it for less go for it. But my gut says go for it.

I think it is a fair price for a such a detailied setting. I you had really loved the Ritani one I might wait to make sure you do not go back to liking the former setting better, but if you continue to favor this one go for it.

Looks like I found a knockoff :-D I''m good at that! hahah

I''ve been thinking about that, actually. The problem is, my fingers are a size 6, and towards the bottom, they''re a bit "fleshy". It''s weird. They''re not fat, just fleshy in that area, unfortunately. When I tried on the Ritani again today, I realized that it''s not flattering to my finger for 2 reasons: one, it''s a tiny band, and two, it''s not continuous, so it seems to pinch the skin into the hollow area under the diamond. Why I didn''t notice this before, I have no idea. I still *love* the style, but for slimmer fingers.

The other, the Coast Diamond band, is thicker (though not too thick...probably 3-3.5 mm?) and looks better on my hand, but still has that sparkle. I don''t know, it struck me as gorgeous. I didn''t think I wanted an antique-y look, but now, it''s my #1 choice.

There are diamonds around the crown in the one I posted - are there also diamonds in the original?

You know, I don''t know. I don''t think so. I think I would have remembered a detail like that.

I have SEEN that ring in person - it wasn''t the designer mentioned - it was a knockoff in a NYC jewelry store. I didn''t pick it up to look at it, so I''m not sure if it''s plat or white gold...I DO have to tell you - that is ONE GORGEOUS SETTING!!!

Thank you! It has a little heart, just like yours (which I think is such a precious touch!). I always thought I''d want it covered in sparkles, or sleek and platinum, but here I am, lusting after this one.

Robbins Bros. is NOT the same company as Robbins Diamonds in the NJ/PA area.

As for their prices they will price match any of their rings even designers, that is their poilicy. From my experiences they are very nice and will bargain if you ask the quesiton and if you have a lower price from another store they will match that.
