Hi All,

I really appreciated all the great advice regarding my initial query about choosing a stone for the Bellerina pendant setting from Whiteflash. From the advice I received, I''ve decided that I will aim for a slightly lower color/clarity stone with very strong blue fluoresence. Now, I''m just want to decide whether or not a bigger stone with a slightly worse cut/clarity is worth it. (I''ve read the answers to previous posts on this subject but I just wanted some opinions specific to bezel set pendants/the Bellerina setting)

I''m trying to decide between a

0.54 ct H SI1 Table 55% Depth 61.5% Crown 34.5 Pavilion 40.8

and a

0.71 ct J SI2 Table 55% Depth 63.3% Crown 35.5 Pavilion 41.2

I remember getting mixed views on if the difference in size would be significant in the Bellerina setting so I just wanted to confirm before I make my final decision.

Thanks :)

Were it me, I''d check with WF to see if the SI2 was eye clean. and if so, go with that one. A jump from .54 to .71 is significant, whereas the color difference from H to J won''t be as noticeable, especially in a pendant.

2nd. Also, I think a larger stone would look better in the bellerina pendant. A smaller stone will get lost in the metal.

Bigger is better and as long as the larger stone is still eyeclean it''s worth the lower colour/clarity. The larger size would be much more noticable then the higher clarity and colour.

Smaller stone, the larger stone has proportion that is leaky, especially not recommended for bezel.

Don't choose this one highlighted above, it is a too deep " steep deep" as we say, it will show light leakage with those proportions. The first diamond although smaller is much better proportioned.

This is why we love Lorelei. Percentages are not my friends.

Thanks for the input again :). Based on these responses, I went ahead and put an order in for the .54 H SI1. I think WF will send me images of the stone within the next few days :).

So Chris from WF just informed me that the stone may have a slightly brown tint. Does anyone know if this is normal for an H colored stone or if I should be worried?

Thanks :)

I would be worried. Brown tint would not be something I would want to see. Yellowish tint for those sensitive
folks would be normal but if it spelled out brown on the certificate I would not be interested. The few
brown tinted stones I have seen were not attractive (unless we are talking chocolate diamonds). A "normal"
H should not be brown.

EDIT - I would ask Chris is it definitly a brown tint (vs a yellow tint).

H color is just the amount of tint, can be other color other than yellow.

Have you seen photos of this stone to know if you''ll like it?

I''m sure if you don''t then another stone in your price range will be available soon. Good Luck!

I read somewhere on here that green is the easiest tint to see, then yellow, then brown? So in an H with brown it should be harder to see the hue than if it was yellow - though the saturation is the same?
