This is from a local independant jeweller. I do not understand what is meant by SC colour grade.

This gemmologists''s report is prepared by an accredited expert. The descriptions conform with or exceeds G.I.A clarity grades, D.T.C and S.A colour grades.

14K white gold setting
T+T, 5.86 gr.
one diamond brilliant
0.717 Carat (examined prior to setting, Metler CM1200 Electronic balance)
SC colour grade (seven diamond master comparison set)
I1 clarity grade (30X binocular gemmologist microscope)
5.49 x 5.30 x 3.58 mm
strong bluish fluorescence to long wave ultraviolet light, very thick girdle

Face up, there are no inclusions seen. There is an inclusion seen at the side that is very noticible to the naked eye.

I am NOT looking to purchase this diamond but I would like to know what the grading system is. (ie) D.T.C and S.A colour grades.

It means it's a crappily certified diamond from a non-reputable grading lab and you should run far far away.

Really, I have no idea. But I HAVE seen enough certifications to know that this one is weird, weird, weird.

The description appears to be severely lacking.

Accredited? By WHO? He has stated three systems. GIA, S.A. and DTC. But has not stated a grading for each of the systems. He also states "surpasses". If his standard surpasses other standards, how and what are the details of WHY his system departs from those standards. This infers the three standard systems are alike. Are they? If not, a properly written narrative statement defining the variances, differences and tolerances of three systems is a requirement. To me it is rather professionally ODD to jump across grading standards and certainly not the practice of someone "Accredited".

Seems like a lot of this report is like what comes out of the back end of a bull.

As to the stone.........
From the diameter measurements that stone might be out of round and noticeable. Basically 5.3 mm x 5.5 ( almost)
I don''t know what SC is either. There certainly is NO GIA color grade reported. Seems SC is the color grade, Unless you haven''t shown it, the report should have a graphical explanation of ALL the color grades so one can determine where "SC" falls.

No proportions or cut grade is provided, which is certainly an important and relevant conclusion that needs to be made for a professionally written grading report.
