After several months of Pricescoping I finally bit the bullet and picked a H&A stone and stock pave setting from one of the vendors recommended on this site. I placed my order a few weeks ago and was told it was about a 2 week turnaround, I added another week for buffer and was planning to propose to my gf this weekend (big day planned!)

I did not hear anything for the last two weeks, so I called the vendor today. They told me that they have mistakenly used significantly larger pave stones in the setting than I had ordered. While I do believe this was a genuine error it throws a wrench into my plans as it would take another 2 weeks for them to cast the correct setting. They have offered me a discount if I keep the setting they made but the price differential will still be significant (over $1k as the total carat pave weight would increase from about 0.4 to 1.0) or they can ship the stone in a temporary solitaire setting and I can return it to them to get the setting which I ordered later. The upgrade offer is tempting as it would add a lot more bling, but it would be forcing me to go even further over budget than I planned...

Any suggestions??

Larger pave will change the overall look of the ring. Did they send you a picture of how it looks? If you like it, then I would go for it - assuming you can afford it. If you don't like it and you need to propose this weekend, I'd suggest the simple solitaire and then send it back for resetting. Another option would be to postpone the proposal until you have the ring. If you decide to stick with the original setting, you should still see if you can get a discount on it (or on a future wedding band purchase) as it was a vendor mistake that hindered your plans.

I agree do you have photos will the center stone be okay with the larger stones if the answer is yes MORE BLING is awesome.
