Hi All,

I’m new here so be easy on me. I’ve recently started my search for an engagement ring! I am really into MMDs and convinced myself to get the best possible cut and color available. I’m looking in the 1.5-2ct range.

The problem I’m having is there doesn’t seem to be a great supply of MMDs in this range. Furthermore, the cuts don’t seem up to par with what I’m expecting.

First question: it seems like only BE offers super ideal cuts. Most of these don’t actually look that good in pictures. Are they actually super ideal?

Second question: is there anywhere that offers a cut similar to Whiteflash’s a cut above?

Third question: anyone have any experience with Takara? They say their diamonds are super ideal H&A but don’t offer pictures or show certifications with high claims.

Fourth question: I’m thinking purchasing a GCAL certified diamond may be best since they have scope images on the certificate?

I’m kind of OCD (as you can probably tell). I purchased an ASET scope so that should hopefully help! Just trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can before making the plunge. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum :)

You will fit right in if you are a bit OCD ;-) lol :D

It is a struggle to keep track of the different vendors that are offering stones from different suppliers, as you have found! There is a thread in this part of the forum that has collated the ones we have seen so far - titled something like 'List of MMD vendors' - so check it out and see if there are any vendors that might suit!

Rhino (Jon) on this forum runs August Vintage Inc - he specialises in well cut stones, including MMDs, so he might be a good person to speak to regarding what he can source and what he might be able to custom-cut if needed / suitable :)

I believe Takara's offerings are seen as very good quality but unfortunately I've not seen much written about them on here.

GCAL is a reputable grading company and I would agree that their certificates are pretty much the best option for MMD stones right now!

Thank you :)

I’ll keep poking around and hope to find something. Does Rhino typically respond to forum posts, or do you mean I should contact him through his website?
