Hi everyone, I saw this forum and it seems the most knowledgeful. Basically I need to buy an engagement ring and I have an idea of what i am looking for but not
the most knowledgeful.
This is what I am looking for: 3 stone ring
center stone : vs1,very good cut, E colour, symmetry very good polish very good. size: .94 to .96
I have check online as it seems alot cheaper and I came across white flash and bluenile..the pricing is so different for around the same specs and huge different from the stores
Is there something wrong with the diamonds or something I am missing
these are the two links
http://www.whiteflash.com/princess/Princess-cut-diamond-582300.htm#

http://www.bluenile.ca/diamonds_details.asp?__fun_frm=i&track=btntext_viewselect&elem=img&pid=LD01239300&filter_id=1

Any suggestions would be so helpful as i need to buy something to prospose by end of week. Which one is better? If those are good what would you reccomend?

Thanks in advance

The stone from Whiteflash "appears" to be the better stone. I think the stone from Blue Nile was cut for weight retention, (to get it to .90 ct) so as to achieve the higher price of the .90 - .99, as opposed to beauty.
However, there is a failing here in the GIA certs and that is that there is no information concerning how high the crown is or how deep the pavilion is. Either of these stones could have a 6% crown and a 64% pavilion.
I think you should ask each seller the percentages of both the crown height and the pavilion depth, refer to Dave Atlas'' cut grade charts, and then make your decision. The stones appear to be close according to the certificates but could, in fact, be light years apart.

thanks..that guide was really good..i will have to contact whiteflash and bluenile once they are open tomorrow about the crown and pavillon. It seems so odd that whiteflash is so much cheaper for a better diamond

Can you give us more information about your price range? Without any pictures of the actual diamonds, and without the GIA cert for the WF, it''s pretty tough to tell much about them from that information. In a princess, I''d rather go with an AGS Ideal cut stone, or go with a vendor who has personally eyeballed the stone (it looks like the WF stone you have is not in-house with them). Give us a budget, and we can probably find you something. You probably don''t need VS1 clarity, you can easily drop that to VS2, and possibly to SI1 if you''re dealing with a vendor who can look at the stone for you.
