Hello all,

I have picked out a 1.37 carat, AGSL 0, SI1, G.

http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-ideal-cut-g-color-si1-clarity_LD01290827?filter_id=1

I was wondering what you thought of this. I think it came out as a 1.5 on the Holloway.

Does anyone have any other recommendations. My goal is to get a round brilliant, with focus on carat size, ideal cut, and eye clean to a lay person (color and clarity). My price range is 6500-7500 for the loose diamond.

Thank You

Hi John

The BN diamond looks promising, an Idealscope image would be good but they don't provide them. I would take a look at Breann's selections if you are open to purchasing from other vendors, check with the SI2 AGS0 if you are interested in that one from JA that the grade setting cloud isn't impacting brilliance, if not then great.

The WF ACA says sold, unless you purchased it?

I appreciate the help everyone. However, I would like to go with blue nile... I need to use the bill me later function as I get paid quarterly (end of july is next, and I am proposing the first week of august on vacation).

From what I have gathered on here... going with a AGSL 0 would be my safest bet from blue nile since they don''t have in house reports (is this a right assumption, to not go with a GIA ideal from BN).

That said, I am choosing between the following:

Thanks again for the help.

Not all AGS0''sare created equal, just like not all GIA''s are excellents.

Safest bet is having some images regardless of which report you choose. However, as GIA rounds and AGS doesn''t, I would say stick to AGS in this case.

GIA's highest cut grade is Excellent not ideal, as Elle says AGS0 and GIA cut grades are not created equal, however if a promising GIA diamond comes up with good numbers, no reason to not consider it.

Your comparison link has nothing to show John?

I would be very cautious buying an SI clarity diamond from BN if you are on a short time schedule. Since they are a drop shipper, there is no way for them to confirm if the diamond is eye-clean. If you had more time, then their return policy makes life easier, but if you need to be sure the first time, SI clarities are a roll of the dice.

What setting are you looking at? It is very possible that you could have a vendor get a ring done and shipped to you in just a few days if you choose an in stock setting and in-house diamond.

Maybe I goofed. I''ll take it out of the comparison tool and show them separately.

I am going to go with one of the settings on their site. Supposedly both diamonds could be set and delivered within 5 days.

My main question is between those two diamonds, is going to the bigger diamond and dropping a grade in color and clarity going to affect the beauty to the naked eye? I guess I could always send it back though...

They both look good....I think if it was me, I would be inclined to go with the SI1 if you are on a time crunch, although the SI2 might be eyeclean, there is an equal chance it might not be. BN can ask the holder of the diamond if it is eyeclean for you but standards, opinions and expectations vary.

Only a vendor who will examine the diamond can tell you that (referring to eye-clean on these two). BN, as a drop shipper, cannot physically examine a stone for you. If you have time to do a return, that is fine--BN's return policy is good, but I thought you were on a short time schedule.

I am. I need the diamond by Aug. 9- so I would like to have it by Aug. 5th for mental sanity.

If I order by tomorrow 3pm, I will have it by the 13. I should be able to send it back and get a different one by the 5th (I hope). I am figuring I can take a risk one time, with the second time being last chance.

Assuming my plan works out, which of these stones would you guys choose (see previous links). I just want whatever has the best chance to look the best for her to show off.

Thanks, for all the help.

I thought I would update. Blue Nile said they would have both diamonds looked at and report back to me Monday or Tuesday.

I would agree with Lorelei, then, and choose the SI1 as it has a much better chance of being eye-clean. There have been occasions reported on PS where a BN supplier said a stone was eye-clean and when it arrived, the inclusions were easily visible. That is why we generally recommend using a vendor that has their hands on the stone as you are talking to them about it. There are several vendors that could easily get a ring done and shipped to you between the end of July and Aug 9, as long as you were using an in stock setting and in-house diamond--a made to order setting would take longer.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

That sounds fine, try and get as much info as you can concerning the '' eyecleaniness'' of the diamonds, hopefully you can get an accurate description.

Ok all,

Of the two, they said only the SI2 one was eye clean.

http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-ideal-cut-h-color-si2-clarity_LD01290826?filter_id=0

Just to clarify, besides not being able to see a report or anything... do all the numbers look pretty good?
Hi John

Ok well at least you know, yes the numbers look fine on this one it should be a lovely diamond. Also BN do have a generous return policy so plenty of time to check it out for yourself.
