I'm looking to get my gf a pair of diamond studs for xmas, and have narrowed it down to 3 choices, all within the same price range:

Whiteflash ACAs (0.834 ctw) = I, SI1

Whiteflash Expert Selection (0.855ctw) = I, SI1

BlueNile Ideals (0.85 ctw) = E (or F), SI1

I guess what it comes down to is, which element will add the most to the effect of the diamonds:
- the marginal size difference (advantage WF ES)
- the marginal color difference (advantage BN)
- or the marginal sparkle/fire difference (advantage WF ACA)?

Post the grading reports for the BN stones, BN ideals can have quite a variation.

marginal size difference.. if it is a size difference of .021 (WF ACA v. WF EF) that is a total difference, so possibly .01ish per stone. I dont think you or anyone else will see a size difference of .01 ct. the size difference between the BN and the WF ES is even less- .005 total for both stones/

- the marginal color difference (advantage BN) E-F color compared to an I color will be noticable to more people than the very small size differece. Will it be noticable to you in the .43 ct range? or to your gf? maybe- maybe not. But I do think the color will be a more noticable difference than the size will be.

To determine the actual cut difference- like SC said- you need the information from the GIA reports. This will tell you more. Many people ----at least I would--- go for the cut difference- and if all the cuts are essentailly the same- I WOULD- go for the color difference over the size difference as I think the size difference will not be noticable.

ensure all the options are eyeclean though. Just because it is an SI1- which can be eyeclean- doesnt mean it will be.

Agree with Amy..........I wonder with the size you are looking at, can you really see color difference?
If not, go with Amy's rec's and I would make decision on price.

I think SC is right- unless you can find a better cut stone at BN to match the first- I would go with the better cut stone between the two WF stones.... if the two WF are essentially the same cut- well then I would prob go with the better price since all else is equal :naughty:

What do you guys think about these two stones? They look great except that the inclusions are feathers and crystals. Given that it's BGD, should I be worried about durability or not? The rep confirmed that the rocks are eye-clean.

If your BGD rep has not cautioned you of any risks I would not worry any more. Brian would not include a stone with durability risks (beyond that inherent in working with any diamond) into his signature line.
