Help! Paint on rings.

Hi all,

My sitter in law recently got house paint all over her white gold, rhodium plated rings. The rings have pave diamonds and the paint has embedded in them. She has been given advise to soak the rings in turpentine or acetone. Does anyone know if this will cause any damage to the rhodium plating?

Appreciate any help or advise. Thanks!

Should be fine. It is a solvent, only works on grease/paint stuff, not on metal. Paint thinner, kerosene, mineral spirits. Whatever she has around the house.
